100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls: Unforgettable Tales of Women of Faith

Fraudulent art work deliberately stolen from the highly successful Rebel Girls series which highlights women's contributions to the world. Do not confuse this book with Rebel Girls as they have deliberately plagiarized the cover art and style. In fact the messaging seems to be quite the opposite...which is quite underhanded, seeing that they are trying to piggy back on another successful book. Fair warning this is NOT a Rebel Girls book to say the least.

This book gives a short glimpse into the lives of 100 women of faith. The book includes stories of women from the Bible; missionaries; and ladies who have had an impact on the church and society through their good works and testimony. The author includes stories about ladies from all historical time periods through our present day, and they are from all walks of life. There were a couple of ladies I’d never read about and I am interested to learn more of their stories after reading about them in this book. And that, I think, is one of the best uses of this book. It would be a great way to introduce women of faith and honorable character to a young girl, and follow up by reading a full biography of their lives. There’s a Bible verse at the end of each story to help highlight a character quality from each lady’s life.

Some things to be aware of: There are several women included in this book that meet a martyr’s death because of their stand for Jesus. The author makes it plain that this is what happened to them as their story is read. If you have a child that might be especially sensitive to that, you’ll want to take a look at this book before you give it to them to read. Also, there are two or three ladies with the designation of “Saint” before their name. Just something to know if that’s offensive to you.

This is a hardback book with an attractive cover. The artwork is nicely done.

Overall, I think the author fulfilled the purpose of this book. Each lady’s story showed courage and faith.

100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls by Jean Fisher, is an amazing book for girl 8 years and older. This is a pretty, hard covered book, with a ribbon book mark and a presentation page, this book would make a very special gift for a young girl. The book contains information for 100 women from the Bible, in history and from today that have made a difference in the world and how they have affected our faith. The information for each woman takes up just one page in the book. At the bottom of each informational page is a bible verse that corresponds with that woman. Opposite the informational page is a full page picture depicting the woman. The pictures are not actual pictures of the women but rather illustrated pictures.
While this book is meant for elementary age girls, I really enjoyed reading about the women and learning more about each of them. I really like how the author chose important information about each of the women to tell us who they were. From mothers, teachers, nurses and missionaries, the author uses women from all walks of life to help encourage the reader. I really like this book and feel it would make a great gift.

The 100 women of faith featured in the book are from all walks of life and are picked from Bible days and continues down through early history to today. It presents a one page account of each woman and tells how each one has made a difference in the world and includes a one page artist concept of each woman. A scripture is included at the bottom the story page. The book is a great inspiration for girls to live the opportunities in their world to make a difference. This book is a beautifully designed hardcopy and has a ribbon to mark the page. It is a book that children and teens would be attracted to. It would make a wonderful Christmas present. It’s going in my church library so I can share it with as many young ladies as possible. 100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls by Jean Fischer is a wonderful book for your pre-teen and teen girls. I believe the target age group is 8-12 years though I believe it will appeal to those older than 12. There are stories of 100 brave women from the Bible, history and today. Some of those from history I was not familiar with and found it very interesting and educational to read about them. This is not the type of book, in my opinion, to just give to a girl. It is a book to share and read together or at least discuss as many of the women gave their life for their faith and I think this could be confusing and perhaps upsetting for some in the age group targeted. I plan to give a copy to my 11-year-old granddaughter for Christmas but I do think their will need to be some discussion of some of the stories. I really like the way the book is formatted with a one-page story, Bible verse at the bottom of page and picture on the opposite page. The illustrations are very nice. There are definitions for words that may be unfamiliar to the reader such as martyr. There are Biblical references within the stories and questions at the end of many stories to help one examine their own life and acknowledge God’s work or consider ways to do more in their community. Examples: “What have you done to help others?”, “What have you learned from your mistakes?” or “How did you feel the first time you heard the Good News?”
I give this book 5 of 5 stars and believe it will make a wonderful gift for the special girls in your life.

100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls: Unforgettable tales of Women of Faith. This book is as extraordinary and unforgettable as its title! I love the colors chosen for the cover, the pink, teal, and navy give the book a feminine style for the modern girl without being old-fashioned. I love the addition of the ribbon bookmark, so places can easily be marked. It’s the perfect book for reading together or alone. It would work great as a reading book, information for school reports, or as part of family or morning devotions.

This book covers women from Bible times (starting with Eve) all the way through the modern era (Elisabeth Elliot and Bethany Hamilton). It shares the life stories of nurses, missionaries, public speakers, and martyrs. These women are touching the world with the faith they have or had in God and in Jesus Christ. This book covers women from all nationalities and ethnic groups. The illustrations are phenomenal. The biographies are short, easy to read, and end with a personal application.

I recommend this book for anyone who loves studying women of faith and their stories, or anyone with a young girl in their life that they would love to encourage to be Courageous in their walk with the Lord.

This hardcover book of 100 EXTRAORDINARY STORIES FOR COURAGEOUS GIRLS, by Jean Fischer is extraordinary indeed. As I delved deep into these intriguing stories, I learned more about these women. And, all of them were extraordinary in their own way. Each gave of themselves not knowing the outcome. But because of their belief in God they could move mountains. One dealt with a shark attack. One wrote 18, 000 letters. One was actually very shy. One saw something amazing, and one was the first lady of the struggle. And, that is just a few of these amazing stories. Because this book was a very intriguing read, and told so much about these amazing women, I thought it deserved five stars. This book would also make a very good Christmas gift.

What a beautiful book with its glossy pages and wonderful illustrations. Would make a wonderful gift for the extraordinary young lady in your life. I plan on gifting my copy to my granddaughter. I enjoyed reading one page stories about Biblical and Historical women whose faith made a lasting example for how we should live our lives. It is encouraging to see strong women who stand on faith to make a difference in the world. Recommended for young ladies ages eight and over.

This book is gorgeous. The illustrations are very attractive and well done. Even better though is the content! My 3 girls (5, 7 and 9) love this book. They love to see all the things women have done. It’s encouraging and inspiring. The range of women included is amazing. There are women who are still alive as well as ancient women who lived 2 thousand years ago. The descriptions are easy enough for my 9 year old to read. Some even my 7 year old can read alone. I love that they have this book to look at and learn from. It’s excellent.

Amidst the myriad compilations of famous and notable people, “100 Extraordinary Stories for Courageous Girls” stands out in that it highlights specifically women of faith. This includes some women who were not necessarily praiseworthy but who nevertheless provide valuable lessons through their actions. One page is dedicated to each of the one hundred women portrayed alphabetically, alongside which is an illustration of them, and this setup is very advantageous for being brief and for possibly reading this in a devotional style, focusing on one woman per day. The women include Biblical characters as well as historical figures and a few contemporary ones. The Biblical women’s stories include the relevant Scriptures, and all of the stories end with a moral message related to the Bible along with a Scripture quotation. Not all of the stories have happy endings; some of the women were martyred for their faith, and although the author mentions that some were tortured, there are no graphic details. When mature words were used, such as “martyr” or “heresy”, a definition was given, and all of the Scripture references were quoted in easy-to-understand language. This is a beautiful collection of the lives of inspirational women of faith, some of whom have otherwise been lost to the annals of history, and a wonderful book for tweens and young teens.
