The book has the “I Can Read” logo printed on the cover—not pictured.

We love A Birthday for Frances (and all the Frances books!) and decided to order a copy to gift to my daughter (Frances)’ kindergarten class in honor of her birthday. This version does say that it is an I can read book in the description but the photo of the product didn’t show that this logo would be on the book cover. I’ve attached a photo of the traditional copy (that we already owned) alongside the version that arrived today. The text is the same but printed larger in the “I Can Read” version. The book itself is a bit smaller. I just wish it didn’t have the logo on it.

Wonderful Book

I just love these Frances books that I purchased! I had them as a small child because my Mom thought it would be cute to buy them for me since my first name is Frances. Just a personalize thing I guess at the time. I learned to read very early in life because of these books. Well my Mom never saved these original Frances books for me. But to my delight I saw these Frances books on Amazon & I was ecstatic! I bought these Frances books for my young child so the books could be passed on from generation to generation (heirloom).
My family love these books!!!!! 💝

One of the best Frances books

I loved _A Bargain For Frances_ as a kid, so naturally I bought it for my son when he was born. After reading it several times, I decided to pick up the other books in the series, even though I wasn't familiar with them. Some of them are great, and some of them haven't aged well. _A Birthday for Frances_ is in the former category. Spoilers follow.

This is one of the top three Frances books, as far as I'm concerned (the other two being _A Bargain for Frances_ and _Bread and Jam for Frances_), and focuses mostly on Frances being kind of sour about having to celebrate Gloria's birthday and spend her own money on a birthday gift. It's a cute story, and it resolves in a mostly positive way, and provides ample fodder for talking with kids about sharing and doing things for other people.
