Read it, you will love it!

The laughing and crying described by others about this book is true enough. I did both. Even though I felt I just knew how it would turn out it kept me reading to just make sure.

Don’t read it because you think it’s a western. It has horses and cowboys but it’s not like the westerns you watched on television. There are no rifles, six guns or showdowns.

Don’t read it expecting really hot and sexy scenes. To me it has more real life romance and love. It’s the kind of relationship I would think most men and women would desire based on love, trust and respect. Ok, maybe it could have been a little hotter with more romance but it was enough for me. LOL

To me it’s about life and finding the will to survive the bad things life can throw at you. It’s learning to trust, have self-belief and live again. You will never forget but you can move forward.

I’m no expert on literature or even an avid reader but this book did grab me and still hasn’t let go. It is a wonderful book.

A shame not to read this book!

As a Radio Talk Show Host I have interviewed 100's of authors. Alex Cords' "A Feather in the Rain" is a MUST READ! To find out about the real Alex Cord, I would recommend that you read this book. Its to bad that there are not more men like him in the world today! If you have ever seen a horse, I say READ THIS BOOK! I would also have to say that, BAR NONE!, also the best Radio interview that I have ever had and, believe me, I have had alot. Without ever meeting Alex in person I consider him a true friend.

A friend recommended this to me

A friend recommended this to me, not knowing at the time I face a very similar circumstance in real life as 'Jesse' faces in this book. I am a voracious reader and this is simply one of the best books I've ever read in my life. I will be re-reading this one in order to marinate in the gut-wrenching truth within.

The mix of true life and western lore

When reading this book you may not realize just how much of Mr. Cord's own life experience influenced the characters. However, by reading this story you'll actually gain insight into his personal life tragedies. In effect, this book is part autobiography and part fiction, truly a labor of love from Mr. Cord.

A Hollywood legend who starred in "Airwolf" (1984-1986), Mr. Cord is perhaps best known for his proficient horsemanship and appearances in high-profile westerns such as "Stagecoach."

Jeanie, Angel Collector, Texas

This book is absolutely amazing. Having lost a child, I found that Alex Cord captured the true essence of a parent facing the loss of a child. I laughed and cried at the touching force he gives as a greiving parent, finding the love of his life and bringing a new being into the world to love and cherish, but never trying to let him take Damien Zachary's place, just fill the void. The horse language is true in every sense of the word, to imagine the majestic beauty of the Cutting Horse. Truly a book well worth reading. Thank you, Alex!!

A 4 1/2 ⭐️ Modern Day Western

This book is great with 'detailed descriptions', events and circumstances; but sometimes they're a 'bit much'. His knowledge of ranching, animals and people are obvious, and the story-line is especially interesting based on the death of his son in real life. A good read!

Frontier book

Didn't like the language used in the writing. I know it was supposed to be like a western, but I just couldn't get past the language.

Triumph of the human spirit

At its heart, this beautifully composed tale is a story of human vulnerability. How do we react when we face loss and disappointment? And how do we find the courage to take the risk of loving again after the crushing grief of losing a child? How can we even ask for what we need when there are no words for what we're feeling? How can one find hope and courage in a world that largely views vulnerability as weakness?

Jesse works through this process with dignity. Though bitterly angry at first, (as any parent would be), ultimately he finds his way. The supporting characters are memorable as well. And the descriptions of the art and sport of cutting are engaging to this transplanted Texan.

Highly recommended.
