Where's the romance????

I have to say that it's been a long time since I was disappointed in a book. Here I bought a well known romance author that I grew up reading and looking at the cover I went and thought wow. Sadly that's where it all ended. Where was the romance??? I can only see 2 people who seem to hate each other for almost 3/4s of the book. I don't see any character development or any interaction between the 2 protagonist.

I kept hoping that there might be some development at the latter part of the book alas... nothing. I don't even see any chemistry between them aside from the main character saying how handsome the main hero is and when I read the last parts of the book, I couldn't believe it. They're suddenly in love???? where??? did I miss reading any pages or was there some hidden message that I failed to see when I read the book.

The book doesn't even give us a satisfying Epilogue to see if they fared any better in the future.

All I can say is that for a romance novel, it didn't feel like it.

yet I found this book to be dull and the plot was repetitive

I collect all of her books, yet I found this book to be dull and the plot was repetitive. I stopped reading it after the first ten pages.

Not as good as I hoped

Truth be told, the story gets on my nerves. All that would have to be done is for these two to simply walk away from each other. I've read the other books of the series and I like them ( I LOVE the last one) but this one seems like it doesn't really fit. There was nothing to explain the characters, no personal growth.... in all honesty I really think the series could have done without this book.

Boring...Just Boring!

This book was a total bore. The plot idea was okay...but the execution was waaaay off. Very disappointing. Characters have ZERO chemistry...there's ZERO tension throughout the book. The only good part of the book was the heroine's relationship with her mother.

Multiple choice question - no need for emotion!

It's an average romance, I liked reading, slightly humorous too. But I had difficulty in believing the heroine's reaction to being pregnant. Even in more "enlighted" times, heroines of this genre do not analyse alternative courses of behavior with such cool heads after realizing they are pregnant out of wedlock. She is not panicked; she is not fearful of the society or even her mother's disappointment; she does not truly care for the baby either. Only once she thinks "she can't give the baby to the hero as her maid suggests". She thinks about whether it would be better for her to "buy" a husband or give her baby to someone else's care as in adoption.

I know it's asking for predictability, but the line between "belieavable" and "predictable" is rather thin, one that only good authors can manage. I have always thought JL is one such author. But perhaps not 100% in this book...
