The writing makes no sense

This book shows up in best spanish books lists for kids, but in reality it's not that good. Sure, the illustrations are beautiful but the writing? Bizarre. The narration mixes tenses, doesn't follow a logical line and it's really bothersome that it mixes spanglish when the book would be best if it was all in spanish. My daughter can never stay focused when I read it because it's a little boring. It's almost like it was written by someone who just learned spanish by listening but never had formal training.

Un libro hermoso!

There are few books in Spanish that are as authentic as this one. The colors, the drawings, the relationships, and the story reflect our culture so well. It is a great introductions into the wonderful Latin American tradition of incorporating fantasy into stories -- it leaves you wondering is this real or is this a dream? If you speak Spanish, I strongly recommend you buy the Spanish edition.

Great translation, very cute book.

Super cute book! It has great translation and love the little “Spanglish” thrown in for modern authenticity. My mom and son enjoy reading it together.

Very colorful pictures, a bit busy... but my 2 year old loves picking out things going on in each page.
