Who buys this garbage?

We need a new category for this kind of fiction. Garbage fiction. This novel is less than superficial. The characters are not even cartoon characters. The plot is a mish-mash of reactionary wet-dreams. The prose is remedial at best. Thor is manifestly ignorant to the point of stupidity. His good guys are people I would dearly love to go to war AGAINST. Best guess is that Thor sits down in a comfortable easy chair, libation within easy reach, and picks up a microphone and dictates the book to his secretary. The transcription goes to an editor who clearly has no literary standards, even fewer ethical standards . . . Well, you get the idea. The biggest mystery posed by a book such as this is: WHO BUYS THIS GARBAGE?

Ugh…. Drivel, Drivel, Drivel

A lot of reviewers have noted that in this book the author takes his soap box to an extreme. What a shame. He seems like he can tell a story. However, I really don’t think I can endure reading another of his books only to find out he whimpers all the time in every book he writes. The book is a soapbox of personal ideology, which is fine and I whole heartedly respect. I just wish I had known that before picking the book up to read. Torture works, Islamic terrorists are easily tricked because they are gay drug users, the American superstar, or as the author words it “highly accomplished and respected warrior in [our] midst”, is superhuman – sleep optional, Victoria Secret model girlfriend, favorite movie Blackhawk Down, can analyze and take intellectual or forceful action in any situation, etc. – and one cannot forget the incompetency of the prior president (guess who) who committed actions and appointed people in key positions that were unbecoming of America values, superiority, and exceptionalism, which the strong, effective current administration needs to dismantle. My favorite was the going to the current president asking to plant a false story about the threat of an assassination on the previous president because the media (i.e., communist NY Times media and other such groups] drools over the prior president and will show proper priority to a false story regarding him but will place the story in the deepest depths of the want ads if the threat is against the current president.

Goodbye Mr. Thor. If writing trade novels, stick to story-telling. Your good at it but making it a soapbox makes it uneven to read. If you want to make political points with your writing, write a non-fiction, opinion/analysis book. You might enjoy it and it might be healthy for you to debate your positions rather than preach them.

A hilarious romp through right-wing crazy-land!

This novel can really only be read as satire, because the right-wing demagoguery is cranked up to eleven throughout the entire, ill-formed plot.

Don't buy unless you love Fox News and Rush

What a total disappointment. I'd read 2-3 of Thor's previous novels, including Athena Project and totally loved them, including the Scot Horvath character. Then I purchased this one (I totally want my money back). It reads as if Rush Limbaugh or Roger Ailes wrote it. It doesn't mention parties or names, but it reads as if those who are against torture are complete idiots, rather than people who understand and agree with professionals that it simply is ineffective. In addition, there is a complete storyline regarding spending that is completely in line with the Tea Party mentality yet not in line with reality and what most economists have stated. And then uses every Fox News fear tactic to support it. So sad, because up until now I was a complete fan. It feels as if Brad Thor was sucked into some sort of Fox News Vortex and then wrote this. Don't waste your money
