... find the time to read as often as I'd like. But I made the time for this one

With a busy schedule I don't find the time to read as often as I'd like. But I made the time for this one! After the first chapter I was sucked in and had to find out what happened next! Loved the character development and the surprises through out the whole thing. It was delightful!

Brilliant Heroine, Intricate Mystery, Sparkling Prose

Allusion is one of the best books I've read in a long time! I loved every page.

Lucy has been abandoned--her father is missing physically, and her mother is missing mentally. She works a burnout job at a nursing home and her hopes of going to college are quickly evaporating. Basically all she has to look forward to is her annual birthday gift that appears mysteriously--and always happens to be the EXACT thing she needs every year.

Her eighteenth birthday is here, and the gift is not the dream car she would have wished for to replace her bicycle, but instead it becomes a clue that sets her on a path of unraveling a huge (and highly dangerous) mystery that has plagued her life for years.

I loved Lucy's resilience, her brain power, and her quick-witted quips. There's a great, realistic romance in this book, too, which I loved. However, the puzzle-solving was probably the most satisfying aspect of this book, among many satisfying factors. It is so well-woven, and as Lucy solves the mystery, I found myself thinking, *whoa, I never saw that coming.*

Andi Hyldahl's writing sparkles. If you want a YA mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and keep you totally guessing, this is a great one. It's clean, with no swears or sex. The characters are in danger, but there's no graphic violence. I'll let my teenage daughters read it. In fact, I'll probably give it to them tonight! So fun. Great book. Can't wait for Hyldahl's next book.

Grab your sunglasses, a fruity drink - and this book!

A fun summer beach read with a twisty plot. The main character Lucy is a refreshingly down-to-earth teenager, who follows clues that help her solve the mystery of her broken family. The author's description of Lucy's visit to a college campus had me laughing, and the book struck the right balance between fun and serious. Now if I can just get Toph's mother's cinnamon roll recipe....

Fast paced, chocolate covered, and full of suspense.

I love a good page turner...Andi weaved an intricate story of suspense and clues keeping the reader guessing as to where the chocolate would lead to next. Lucy was such a loveable character but showed true bravery as the plot thickened. Such a fun novel...hard to believe that this is the author's first.

Have enough time to read it all at once.

I generally have no problem figuring out the who done it, but not in this case. Very well written a complete change of pace.

For readers of mystery + YA + SciFi

An clue-filled, fast paced mystery for readers who like a bit of YA romance and science fiction (genetic engineering etc).

This book's best point? Its sensitive and informed portrayal of living with dementia and Alzheimers.

What I didn't like? It could have used an additional copy editing pass, and the final chapter feels like the ending of an LMN movie (cheesy).

Otherwise an entertaining, diverting read. Thank you to the author!
