Features & Highlights

  • After making a promise to leave the street life behind, a shocking revelation forces Animal back into the game to face his greatest opponent yet.
  • After years of war on the streets the man known only as Animal is finally able to hang up his guns. He's paid his debt to society for the crimes he's committed, and thanks to the sacrifice made by the father he barely knew, old scores have been settled. For the first time in his life, he's able to find the peace that had eluded him for so long and settle down with his wife Gucci and their son T.J. Animal's future is looking bright—that is, until someone from his past resurfaces with a shocking revelation. When Animal's former lover, Red Sonja, shows up on his doorstep with a little girl, claiming Animal is the father, he and Gucci immediately fear it’s a ploy for money. But Red Sonja has come to collect a debt of a different kind, one that can only be paid in blood. A powerful man is hunting Red Sonja and her daughter, and she calls on Animal to stop him—permanently. Animal is forced to break the promise he made to his wife upon his release from prison and once again picks up his guns. To keep his daughter and her mother safe, Animal sets out on a mission of murder, but this isn’t just any man Red Sonja has sent him after, it's one of the most powerful drug dealers in the country—her father.

Bring it back K'wan.

The book was ALRIGHT. Definitely not just a page turner for me. I'm going to keep it 100% real couldnt relate at all like his other books they used to seem very realistic. I was disappointed because I have been reading K'wan books for years. I fell in love with the gritty street bangers he used to drop this book was not one. Seeing words like THOT I thought i was reading a book straight from facebook. Besides the twins Cain and Abel I really wasn't interested the book I always admired Kwans books because they always seemed very real to me the Animal books have definitely taken a different turn than I expected. Animal and Ashanti are always favorites please take them back to Harlem all this brotherhood tiger lily mess makes me roll my eyes not interesting at all. The sonja red character was doing the uptmost Animal was this on point character who could easily read a person he seemed very soft not edgy and hardcore. I definitely understand that Animal and Ashanti are developing as characters but they are losing their rawness especially Animal. I saw this coming in Animal II, nevertheless I love Animal Ashanti and the Twins I miss that hungry dog eat dog writing style from Kwan. Ghetto Bastard was very good Animal II and III not so much. Please go back in the lab like a mad scientist and come back dropping that classic street literature we need a masterpiece like the chronic. All this to be continued on going all overthe place ongoing saga is not good I need my old Kwan back don't know where he went but this isnt him at all! Hopefully Animal 4 will bring back that edge sometimes you have to take it back to where it all started. Still got love for the big homie but he lost me on this one.

I enjoyed my reunion with Ashanti

I have read every book in the "Hoodrat" series, and the entire "Animal" series. Kwan is one hell of a writer who leaves his fans wanting more, but this book, while we waited, didn't add anything to the story. I'm giving it 4 stars because I can't do 3.5.

1. 240 pages? Seriously? There was about 100-150 pages missing, compared to the other books.
2. The book felt rushed, and ended too early. It was as if there was a beginning and an end, but no middle.
3. I enjoyed my reunion with Ashanti. Love him! The aspect of his missing sister needs to be addressed; when is Ashanti getting his own story?
4. Where was Zo-Pound?
5. I wonder what Detectives Brown and Alvarez will have to say about this....

All in all, I was excited for this book to drop, and I was slightly disappointed. Hopefully part 4 will be better...

Awesome Read

OMG! I pre-ordered this book in April and anxiously waited for it's release. I received it on the 4th and finished it on the 5th. There is so much I could say about the contents of this book but I don't know where to begin. Anyone who tells a story like this author is gifted not talented, you can't be taught, you have to be born with the ability to draw the reader into every situation within the covers. The characters all have a deep-seated reason for living the life. You can visualize every setting, imagine what the characters look like without too much description. What's next? is the question, page after page. Everyone is connected in some unexpected way. This is one exciting story, the entire series thus far is truly number one for me. There is more to be told, hence, #4. I have read all of Mr. Foye's books and have enjoyed them all but this series is my favorite. If you don't have them, buy it, borrow it, get it.
