Excellent research

I liked the book, didn't love it. Good plot, great research-phenomenal, I might say. Writing style convoluted at times. I'm a little conflicted because the book read like a first time author, but the story was fascinating. Just too much minutia, and it held the flow back at times. Don't let my review stop you from reading it though. If you like the subject matter, and a touch of archaeology, you'll enjoy the book.

so boring

I tried to get into this book. I am traveling to Mexico soon to view the Aztec ruins and thought it would be cool to read some historical fiction on the subject. There are 2 stories going on, the modern one is a little more engaging but the ancient one skips all over the place and is so slow. I got through the first 50 or so pages and decided it was not worth my time or the weight in my bag to keep going. UGH, this is such an interesting topic, how can you make it sooooo boring.

Tiny print! Had to hold close

Pretty good book, if you like archeological stories it’s good but covers a lot of concepts true fans and historians might find a little repetitive or basic knowledge. Print is tiny! Kept my attention enough.

Very long and drawn-out

Story was going along fairly well until the ending. Monsters should not have been part of the story.

Good book

This was a good book. It was slightly confusing at first jumping back and forth each chapter and it took me at least a third of the book to get "into it". But I did enjoy it. I wish the character development had been deeper. I believe that would have added interest. But I would recommend to others.
