Bearing Secrets (High House Ursa)

Fake mate, fake marriage to save his 'house', and to get her green card. The book is well written with a convoluted plot I couldn't always keep track of. However, I just couldn't keep my attention on the story. I loved how 'soft'; the affection started off with (that rosy in-love feeling) between Kirell and Natalia, with them going from strangers, to a mutual liking and respect, to friends, and then lastly lovers, to mates, and finally marrying for real. But I never really felt a spark.

I liked the fact that Natalia stood up to Kirell and how he made her feel 'not worthy', even though it was for her own protection. She showed some spunk and a backbone, but seriously... She didn't realise that there would be danger involved? Their first date ended in him having to fight off three other guys! He was acting suspiciously the whole time, keeping her in the dark about the true situation. Kudos to her for keeping to her word though.

There are a lot of intrigue, action, traitors, and of course romance, but it honestly made me feel the same information were repeated one too many times, and the story dragged out a bit too long, without any of the background story really progressing. Then again, the last couple of books I read (other authors) where all shorter, quick to the point stories, which might be influencing my perspective. There is definitely a lot more meat on this book/bone.

This is the first book from Riley Storm, and you can tell. The character development was a lacking and it made it hard for me to really care about Kirell and Natalia. However with that said. This story wasn't bad and there is room for great potential. A setting was set to have more books in this world and I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Storm and watching her grow as an author.

I’ve read a lot of shifter books, but this was a very different one for me. I liked the book, but I had a hard time getting into it. Kirell and Natalia’s story seems to be continued in another book.

This is a new and different take on shifters! It kept me glued to my kindle all day just to finish! It's the first in a series but each has their own couple and love story! In this one Kirell is a soldier in a palace that has been attacked by traitors of his house and his Queen wants him to become the captain of the army,however one of the requirements is to be mated!Natalia needs a green card to stay in the country to work,after finishing school! With her friends help she meets Kirell! The action and build up of romance will keep you rooting for them! Looking forward to her next book!

It is an honor, but there is a small problem - to be a captain one must have a mate. When challenged on this point he is given 72 hours to bring her to court.
Natalia has visa problems and needs a husband to continue staying in the US. Coming to an agreement with Kirell, they fake it - only to be in the middle of deadly intrigue.
A good storyline, a perfect blend of romance and thrill combined with the mystery of who is the traitor behind the rebellion.

Natalia needs a way to stay in the country so that she can work at her dream job. Only thing that her friend came up with was to marry someone for a green card. Kirell is a bear shifter, who needs a mate to get the head of security job he was nominated for by his Queen. Natalia and Kirell agree to help each other out. Meaning to keep this a business relationship soon turns into a sexual and loving relationship, where both want to stay together. Lots of action and sex.

Can these two pull off a fake relationship well enough to fool the powers that be and get what they need or will those fake feelings turn real and the two find something so much better than what they were after?

Natalia is facing a battle she cannot win after she graduates and cannot get a work visa to stay. On a whim her best friend convinces her to go out on the town and find a husband so she can stay without issue. After a attack to his home Kirell finds himself in a position where he needs to find a mate and fast! Going out on the town to find someone he can talk into coming back home with him he meets Natalia. What starts as a business plan escalates quickly and they find themselves fighting not only their feelings but the fate of their whole known world. This is a fantastic book with a high level of romance and a level of fantasy that is still understandable to the conscious mind but still creates a level of intrigue unlike something that can happen in real life. If you like intense battles, romance, alpha shapeshifters and strong female characters this book is for you!

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for a honest review and it was a okay read. I found the story interesting, but I have to admit it was a little slow going for me in parts but it did have action parts that were good and I liked the characters involved. So overall it was a ok read.

enjoyed reading this book. There were actually two plots going on in the book. One was settled. However, the other plot was not. So...CLIFFHANGER. I wanted to know if Natalia was actually Kirell’s real mate. I kept looking to see if a Hunter would come onto the scene and tell them. Kirell sure does fight a lot in this book. And not just a tap here and a tap there. But, throw down fights...to the death. I also liked the Queen’s (Kaelyn) character.
