  • New York Times
  • bestselling author of
  • That Thing Called Love
  • Holly didn't expect to be a widow at thirty-two. She also didn't expect to be so big. After her husband's death, food was the one thing she could always count on. Then she meets Logan Montgomery, a personal trainer so hot that he makes her sweat in all the right (and so embarrassingly wrong!) places. Charmed by her witty wisecracks and sharp insights, he offers to help her get back in shape.
  • Holly turns out to be a natural in the gym, slimming down into a bona fide looker with killer curves—and a new kind of hunger. Before either of them can stop it, their training sessions lead to even more steamy workouts away from the gym.
  • But can Logan commit to a woman who doesn't fit his ideal? Now that Holly's turning other men's heads, does she even need Logan anymore? Are they a couple built to last . . . or destined to fizzle?

the writing is not great. All telling and very little showing

Once in a while I come across a novel that is so offensive that I tear it apart at the binding and chuck it in the recycle bin. This novel--big girl panties--just received that treatment. First of all, the writing is not great. All telling and very little showing. Second, the relationships are really screwed up. If they were real people, I'd suggest that the characters check out Adult Children of Alcoholics or Sex-Anon. There are 12-step programs that address the kind of addiction the characters in this novel suffer from. I'm not a prude. I'm not offended by sex scenes or modern romantic types. I am offended by domestic violence and characters who are shallow and self involved to the point of being repulsive. Holly--the female protagonist--does have some qualities that make her an interesting lead character. But the rest of the characters are simply creepy. The model who bites to leave her mark of possession on the guy she's dating? Ick. The jock couple--who are into spanking as a way to establish domination and control in their marriage. Call the cops. And Logan--the most perfect man in the universe--I don't think. He spouts all the right quotes that have to do with things new age--but he's about as deep as a shoe box. If you like violence with your sex--and if you think women should be spanked to keep them in their place. This is your book!

Sadly I Only Give It One Star

Very seldom would I take the time to write a one-star review but I just want to add .. this author is a Wanna Be Porn writer. She probably read 50 Shades of Gray and said "I can do that!". So I am adding a disclaimer that the sex stuff in the book was not written well, was uncalled for, and should have been disclosed up front. I have nothing against sex writing .. but disclose it so I can decide if I want to read it or not.

And further, there was a disbelief of the realness of the book. It just didn't ring true.

It takes a lot for me to write an opinion (review) of what I thought but when it comes to sex .. I think it is only fair to disclose porn - disclosed as soft porn - lousy porn - to be honest.

Can not recommend it.

I know some people thought 'wow, great, fat women being a winner in the end!' etc .. and then the sex writing. So just be aware, you need to like that kind of stuff to read this. And if you have daughters that like to read, this is not appropriate for young teens or girls even 15, 16, 17 or so.

The One Star Reviews Have My Vote!!!

Collectively the other one star reviews make up my review. I too was expecting a Janet Evanovich type book I guess and boy was I disappointed. This book is poorly written, the characters are not likeable and to each their own but the spanking part of it was both silly and objectionable at the same time. I'm so glad I only paid $1.97 on this clearance table for this book...and it must be said...it wasn't even worth that. I stopped at page 183 and it will be going in the trash as I wouldn't want to give this waste of time to anyone I like!! Save your time and money!!

Having an under the weather day and it was here and easy to read

Ok. I admit it. I read it. Having an under the weather day and it was here and easy to read. So...fat girl works out, loses some weight-but is still pretty big- and because she is filled with humor and witty remarks the hottest guy around - who only dated models- falls hard for her. This book is a terrible fantasy for fat people. It will never happen. And there is the message that thin girls are shallow, mean and catty "Barbie Dolls". What a shame to put these ideas in anyones head. Oh...and as long as you are healthy and work out it is ok to be fat. If you love yourself handsome personal trainers and star athletes will pursue and love you too. A difficult childhood and some losses later make it ok to be fat. This book is full of reasons (excuses) why a fat person can not possibly be responsible for being that way. And should not be expected to change it. The explicit sex scenes were a little creepy....but whatever, some people like that. Just a terrible book.

Love it

I love this book. It takes time to build their relationship, which is totally believable and relatable. I just love the characters.

Getting bored

As I am writing this review, I am currently on chapter 16. At first, I couldn't put this book down- the relationship between Holly and Logan had me hooked. But then once the book started getting into details about Chase and Amanda's personal life (around chapter 11,12) I started to get bored and found myself skimming paragraphs. I also found myself skimming through all the details the author writes about Logan's touch. She literally write about 2 pages just about his touch.

I'm going to finish the book because I've gotten so far into but long story short, it's ok. Hopefully the book picks up!

Another thing I want to point out, for the reviewers who keep saying this is a terrible book from Janet Evanovich...this book isn't written by Janet Evanovich. It's written by Stephanie Evanovich.
