I don't give many 5-star book reviews. But I LOVED reading this book!

The backdrop of the story is totally relatable: teenage girl dealing with first love, bff going off to college, trying to navigate adulthood. Add to the mix and addict mom, and normally I'd say, no thanks, I've read that before...BUT set it in New Orleans, with corrupt cops, gambling, parties, and vampires...and now I want to see how this plays out.

This story was intense in all the right kinds of ways, and the action scenes were the kind you get sucked into (pun intended, I guess?). The pacing of the story was incredible (you know those stories that drag on and on and on, and you think, get to the point already...this is a crash course in how to NOT tell that kind of story). I caught myself holding my breath waiting to find out how Eva manages to get out of the mess she finds herself in...and if she has to be turned into a vampire to survive.

I received this as part of a book tour that I am completing for BOMM and I have to say I was so excited to receive this book. A review wasn’t required as part of this tour but I couldn’t help myself especially when you look at that cover. I was instantly in love and then on top of it all it feeds off of the history of vampires in New Orleans which was an immediate interest to me.

The basic storyline is vampires have taken over all of the vices in New Orleans. Gambling, drinking, clubs and a few others. You name it they probably run it and in return the vampires don’t feed on the humans and instead the humans pay with “donations”. There are laws in place however, most of the vampires do not follow these in regard to cutting people off so they don’t overdo it. One case in particular is Eva and her mother who has such a severe gambling problem that it caused Eva to be trapped in a vicious cycle of the only family she had.

I have to say I absolutely ADORED this book. I love that Nina Walker made you love Eva for her and not for whatever she had with Adrian. She was ready and willing to take care of herself no matter the costs and was willing to risk her own life in order to protect her mother. Even when her mother continued to get her into her messes she did her best to keep herself alive and her mother safe even if she wasn’t appreciative.

Then there’s Adrian holy cow I mean I get vampires are normally inherently attractive, but I LOVE that he may be attractive, but he is still a villain. You catch glimpses of him that is unusual as far as his kindness, but you still get reminders of just WHO and what he is. I’m so excited about the next book already to know just what happens with Adrian and Eva. Bring it on Nina Walker I’m loving these people and this story.

I went into this thinking it was going to be the usual vampire/human romance story. MAN!! This is so different! There is a touch of romance but not in the way you would expect it. This is a whole new take on the world that is so creative and interesting. This author is so full of awesome ideas. I’ve read some of her other series that she has written and every time she amazes me with storylines and ideas that I would never think of and I LOVE it!! This is a must read!

Our young heroine gets her self mixed up with one of the most powerful Vampires in North America. He's a prince. But she also get mixed up with her friends who happen to be vampire hunters and Mafia bosses who are after her mother, after her mother goes missing. She turns to her new frienemie, the vampire who owns the casino. Will he help her?

It was my turn to pick a book for my book club and I am so happy I chose this one. Each girl loved it and I read it in a few hours because I couldn't put it down. All of us will be pre-ordering the other two books and we can't wait!

This book was such a page turner! I seriously can’t wait for the second book, I’m invested!! If you want a sign to read the series, this is it.

I don’t typically read young adult fiction. But this is a good one. It was a fun and entertaining. It had a few unexpected twists, tied up enough loose ends, but enough cliffhangers for me to be really excited for the next book. Read it, you’ll enjoy it!

And to be fair, I was never a crazed twilight fan. So Blood Casino surpassed my expectations!

I highly recommend reading this book! It was so good! I loved the characters and plot. This is definitely a new take on the age old “evil-vampire-lord must be defeated”.

This book was such an unexpected surprise in the best way! I devoured it and can’t wait until the next one comes out. It’s about vampires and I loved the spin the author put on it. I liked how it was fantasy but also not too much so. It was more believable which I know makes absolutely no sense but it is how I felt! Definitely recommend and can’t wait to see what this author does next!

I loved this book so much!!! Definitely one of my top ten favorites. This cover is awesome like hello?? One of the things I like a lot is that even though this book is about vampires, it seems like it could totally happen. Like vampires could come out of the shadows and basically take over the world. The fact that humans and vampires live in harmony(sort of) is not what I expected. I also love that this book is not like the other vampire books or shows. It is definitely it’s own. The first chapter hooks you in right away. The world building is short but still makes sense. The action scenes were beautifully written. Also for all you romance lovers out there this book has a great one. Though it’s a confusing one for Eva. I cannot wait for the rest of the series!!! Nina Walker thank you so much for this book!
