so cute you can't help but smile

I saw this book online rated as a top childrens book. I am not suprised. It is a hand puppet book, the story is cute as Boris needs to get a grip on his kisses because they tickle so much! My 2 year old just got this for her Christmas gift and she really likes it. She likes to put her hand into the puppet herself and try to give me Boris kisses. Colorful and well made, very cute.

Kisses all 'round.....

This wonderful, interactive book has all the components of a winner. Boris, a loveable, furry, orange monster is a puppet. You stick your hand through the back of the book and make him come alive as you narrate the story (and of course manipulate him to give gobs of kisses to everyone in sight). Boris is a hyper, excitable little creature who wins your heart immediately. A trip to the local park becomes a team effort as you groom the little guy and and check his fur for bugs. Boris loves and appreciates your gestures so much he piles loads of kisses on you to which you respond, "Calm down Boris?" "It tickles."

Boris is so ravenous from his park romp that he needs to refuel. He is starving! You then help him with his picnic lunch and he is so happy that he nibbles on your fingers, "Sorry", says Boris while smothering you with lots of kisses. You reply by saying, "Calm down Boris!" Your kisses are too tickly!"

The other little monsters in the park are afraid to play with him because he is so big and loud and yes, "scary" to them. Then a strange thing happens. A big old dog jumps the fence sending the minuscule monsters running to hide .... but what does Boris do? Boris finds a way to calm the situation which calms the fleeing flock which calms everyone's fears. Boris saves the day! "Kissy, kissy well done, Boris! Kisses all 'round.....come here...... :)

new favorite

This was a gift for a friend's 3 year old granddaughter. She loves it. She liked to play 'monsters', so i thought she'd like this. It fit the 'monster' bill but didn't seem to be too scary. She loves it as well as Not so Scary, Sid. Both have the pop-up rubber puppet that is attached to the book and she loves to have the book read to her, as well as opperating the puppet herself. Boris has a prime spot in her doll carriage, i'm told, riding around with other small treasures.

A must have book!!!

This book is great!!! My son loves having this book read to him. It is very fun to watch him interact with the puppet. I was pleasantly surprised at the large size of the mouth. I can easily fit my entire hand into the puppet to make a variety of faces and movements, much to my sons delight. I am now ordering more books in this series!!! I would definitely give this book as a gift to an expecting friend or a young child. You must get this book, it will not disappoint!!!

Very fun for kids and teach lessons

We love these books. Have purchased every one in the series for my kiddos. We have so much fun with them. Of course they’re read multiple times per sitting. There is also a lot to learn from the behavior of these monsters. Opens up discussions and later we refer back to the books (Don’t be like ___!).

We love Boris!!!

It's hard not to love all the Sam Lloyd Pop-Ups! Super fun, hands on interactive for the little ones. Like, check Boris's fur for bugs... Now brush his hair... Feed Boris his picnic... Giving you the perfect opportunity to get those little hands. LoL

It's sad that on the UK Amazon you can buy most all of these books new and at the reg price. I guess it's because the author lives in England? Whatever the reason, totally a fun book that'll bring some BIG Smiles to your little one.

Fun, but there's better

We picked this up because our kids loved Not So Scary Sid. This book is okay, but compared to Sid, it doesn't stand up as well. Boris' book doesn't have the same level of audience participation as Sid does. Neither does the "Speak up" book (can't remember the title character's name).

All the books are going to be a little tough to use for people with bigger hands.

the puppet part of it is cool - but that's it

I don't care for this book. I thought it would help my 5 yr old learn how to calm down - but it doesn't really make much sense to her or me. I mean, the puppet part of it is cool - but that's it. Hard to read the crazy font too.
