Description

About the Author Clive Cussler is the author of more than fifty books in five bestselling series, including Dirk Pitt, NUMA Files, Oregon Files, Isaac Bell, and Fargo. His life nearly parallels that of his hero Dirk Pitt. Whether searching for lost aircraft or leading expeditions to find famous shipwrecks, he and his NUMA crew of volunteers have discovered more than seventy-five lost ships of historic significance, including the long-lost Confederate submarine Hunley , which was raised in 2000 with much press publicity. Like Pitt, Cussler collects classic automobiles. His collection features more than eighty examples of custom coachwork. Cussler lives in Arizona and Colorado. Jack Du Brul is a graduate of the Westminster School and George Washington University. Du Brul has climbed Masada at noon, swam in the Arctic Ocean off Point Barrow, explored war-torn Eritrea, camped in Greenland, and been gnawed on by piranhas in the Amazon River. He lives in Burlington, Vermont.

Have some fun with this

My best advice to absorb the tales of The Oregon Files series would be to skip "Golden Buddha" and "Sacred Stone," then head straight for Cussler's action-packed "Flood Tide" which is the first appearance of The Corporation and their ship the MV Oregon. You can meet Juan Cabrillo and Max Hanley through their escapades with Dirk Pitt. After that, you can read "Dark Watch" and be in the know on a few more things but this is not required since the series books can be read as stand-alone volumes. In "Dark Watch" Juan and the Corporation are up against some smugglers of precious cargo--gold and people. I won't tell you how all this links up, you can read it and find out. Safe to say that Du Brul and Cussler have crafted an awesome adventure story, and Chairman Juan Cabrillo is fairly fleshed out character. I am always a little worried about the whole co-author thing, but Du Brul pulls it off here, of course if you have read any of his Phillip Mercer series (other than "Charon's Landing" which I thought was a tad bit dull) you knew already he could do it.

Book in great condition & delivered on time

I have been enjoying every Clive Cussler book since I first picked one up back in the late 1980's. I really enjoy the Oregon files. Also very pleased with condition of book received and an on time delivery. Seems lately delivery isn't what it used to be for Prime members. Had two recent orders that after a month of waiting I canceled. My faith was restored with this book order. I had waited over a month for this book from another book dealer. I don't think it was their fault, but my order got lost in the millions of ordered items. Amazon credited my account, so all is well. RIP Clive Cussler, and thanks for all the enjoyable reads.

Blah!

I have been a huge Clive Cussler fan for a long time. Most of the time his books are great. This book had way too many twists and turns and got bogged down because of this. Way too much detail in the last few chapters. I found myself reading only the first sentence to see if the paragraph was worth it. Far too many times the first sentence was all I read. I didn't miss any of the plot by reading only one sentence.

of historical value

As always, Clive Cussler doesn't disappoint. I was hooked in the first few pages and could hardly put this one down till I'd finished. Then I read it again just for the fun of it. Cussler pulls you in and keeps you involved. The technical information is very good but doesn't overwhelm the story line. Great read.
