Nope. Save your $. I wish I could get a refund.
Very disappointed. Not at all up to MB's usual quality, and I REALLY enjoyed book 1.
I would really like my money back. This was awful.
We all know how these are going to end, so the joy is in the character development and plot twists-- of which there were none here.
Was this sent to MB as fan fiction and she just published it!??!
Save yourself the money and read below.
SPOILERS:
The high point situation was set up from the beginning with direct statements about Lil' Evangeline's safety (did i miss the fact that Drake was a criminal in the last novel?!)
Unfortunately, the climax of Drake (and his men) saving her was set up with a villain that was tossed in at the last minute to fulfill the need, no development.
No background on Silas, Maddox or any of Drake's men was developed. Except for the fact that they (like total creepers) repeat again and again how much they would like her in THEIR bed/to be their woman. I kept expecting a menage with them.
It seemed like Evangeline's name was repeated 3-4-5-6 times per page, because Drake was brooding for most of the novel.
Her friends "made up" with her in the span of 3-4 paragraphs, never to be seen again.
Predictable conflicts and the only way poor, pitiful Evangeline responded was with tears, shaking hands, a pale face and running to Drake's dudes for support.
Overview: Dude realized his mistake from previous novel. Spends pages calling himself all sorts of a jackass between thinking about how much he loves/needs/ must have her. Searches days for chick. Finds her. She cries, they're a couple again. Things are fine. Then repeat because he does something stupid again. Literally.
If you cut out the parts where he's thinking about how dumb he is/how much he needs her/how no one will touch her/she'll never want for anything again, you have about 25 pages left.
Extremely. EXTREMELY disappointed.

Slow, tedious and disappointing
I was disappointed with this book. After reading the first one, Mastered, I wondered how Maya Banks could get another full book on Evangelina and Drake and keep the it interesting and as good as the first. Well I got my answer, she couldn't. The story was predictable and slow. Plot lines either weren't follow through, like Evangeline's relationships with her former friends and roommates or were barely touch like the childhood of Drake. The "brothers" of Drake from the first book who were pivotal weren't expanded on nor of any real significance in the story. This along with a very pedestrian story that relied on minimal character building of Drake and Evangeline made for a boring book with very little depth.
Then Banks threw in totally inappropriate and unexpected plot twist with Drake going off the deep end and ending the relationship out of nowhere which made it completely unbelievable. It was sloppy, lazy and ridiculous writing. I was sorely tempted to stop reading as it felt so contrived as if their was a required angst plot twist. It just didn't make sense, had no background plot build up and ruined the book for me. It made Drake shallow and that Evangeline eventually forgave him ridiculous and weak.
Perhaps another reviewer was correct. This wasn't completely written by Banks or not at all. It was nothing like her previous books and didn't come close to the high standard I have come to expect. I have pre ordered the next book but with some trepidation. I sincerely hope this was just an anomaly and that the final book will redeem Banks. How sad it will be for me if it does not. She has long been one of my favorite authors but to stay there her books must earn the spot.

This one begins with Drake on his knees vowing to never to hurt Evangeline again. No sooner has she fallen back in line then he dumps on her again. Sorry Maya but I am not a fan of women as gullible, dopey doormats. It felt as though all the ideas and plot lines were used up in Mastered. I won't be purchasing the next one.

but this has to be the worst thing I've read in a long time
OK, maybe it's just me, but this has to be the worst thing I've read in a long time. I enjoy Maya's books & I enjoyed the first one in this series but this one, so disappointing.
Up to Chapter 6 the story/dialog was repeated, over & over again. Six chapters of the same thing. I began to think there must have been some word count in her contract with the publisher. Absolute waste of time. As if that wasn't bad enough, the dialog was horrific. NOBODY talks the way she has her characters talking. It's almost as if it was written for a child. I kept reading, hoping it would improve but no chance. I only wish I could return it for a full refund. I will say that I'll never read another one of her books. Sad.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME BUYING THIS HORRIBLE PIECE OF "LITERATURE"!

Dominated (The Enforcers #2) by Maya Banks
3.5 stars
M/F BDSM Romance
Triggers: Kidnapping
I reviewed my personal copy of this book for Wicked Reads BYOB.
This is the second book in the Enforcer series and you definitely need to read book 1 first, as this one starts where book 1 leaves off.
Evangeline is shredded. She trusted Drake with her whole heart and in return, he cut her down with vicious precision. Not only is she needing a place to lay low, but she has to content with having no support system. And, while she thought she knew the man she loved, she has to come to grips with the fact that he turned out to be worse than her skeevy virginity taker.
Drake is a showman when it comes to his own life. He knows that and understands what that means. But, when it creeps in to his life in an unexpected and detrimental way, Drake will have to decide how he's going to salvage his heart. He claims to love Evangeline with everything that he is, but his words are not backed by his actions. When he promised to earn back Evangeline's trust, once again, those are just words.
I wanted to clap Drake on both ears during this book. He had his head so far up his own behind that he failed to see what was going on right around him. Thank goodness for Maddox and Silas. They were the shining stars in this book. Without them, I don't think I would have made it through.
Evangeline will have to make a huge decision about her future and Drake will have to stop putting up barriers if he wants to have a future. It has a satisfactory ending but I do hope we get to see more of them. Also, I really hope the rest of Drake's men get their own books too.

Fantastic - Love Love Love The Enforcers
Oh my GAWD - again Maya Banks had made me put a book down and go put on some big girl panties to continue reading to the end - just brilliant !! This series is becoming another favourite like her "Surrender Trilogy" or her "Breathless Trilogy" - yes I am a Maya Banks stalker and I do not care one bit!!
So Dominated picks off right from Book 1 which was fantastic as Maya leaves us hanging. During Dominated I admit I was not happy with Drake and I was starting to think ill thoughts of him particularly towards the ending - which is why I put the book down as I was very upset with him.
You must read "Mastered" first before reading Dominated otherwise will not make sense.
Angel, she is just a beautiful girl and I love her immensely, we again get beautiful moments with her and Drake's "men". Also really enjoyed seeing more of her parents and how they become entwined into the story, the ending was simply beautiful and made me so happy and I forgave Drake for being a douche bag.
I was wondering about one of the surprises and so happy it came to fruition towards the ending which made me stop reading and enter into iBooks and pre-order "Kept" Book 3 as in no way am I going to miss the final instalment of Drake and Angel.

His angel is found, but will she stay?
Book 2 of the Enforcers Series brings us through an emotional rollercoaster. Early on, Drake Donovan struggles with the loss of his love, Evangeline, after driving her away in front of the Luconnis. He tears her down and degrades her in an attempt to convince them that she means nothing to him so nobody will use her to get to him.
After 5 days of anxiety-ridden separation, Drake finally tracks her down to apologize with the help of his building's doorman. After reconciling, seeing what being apart does to the both of them, Drake has announced he will be making his relationship with Evangeline public to ensure that anyone who messes with her, shall face certain consequences. Like any relationship, they have to overcome certain obstacles, including the police sniffing around Drake's affairs and trying to recruit Evangeline as an informant.
Evangeline's loyalty to Drake knows no end and is unconditional, though he questions her at every turn after being approached by the police.
Through other twists and turns in the story, it comes to question if the relationship will even last. As with any alpha male story, pride cometh before the fall...
This book concludes Drake and Evangeline's story. I enjoyed the entirety of it, but the end was slow to come. It seemed that once the story climaxed, it was slow to approach the conclusion. Overall it was hot, what we'd expect from Maya Banks, one of my favorite contemporary authors. She never disappoints :)
