About the Author Celina Grace was born sometime towards the end of the last century and wrote her first story, The Blue Ruby, at the age of seven. Echo

Another great Kate Redman mystery. Celina Grace brings all her characters to life in solving a mystery involving her mother who she has been estranged from for five years. Follow Kate and a new character named Tin as they attempt to find out what happened to a 40 year old corpse that is found.

Best of the series so far!

In my opinion, this is the best of Ms Grace's Kate Redman series to date. Kate's character has been more defined, primarily through actions and inter-actions with other characters, such as her mother, co-workers, and her boss. The underlying plots of an unexplained death (revealed by a rainstorm and resulting landslide) and abuse at a "last chance" home for young women are well thought out, and Kate's participation in both cases is well presented operationally plus as a plot mover. Echo also seemed to me to put Kate back in her rightful place as the main character, with the others we've come to know as supporting players. Can't wait for the next book in the series -- highly recommended!

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free copy of the e-book in exchange for an honest review.

Echo

For me, this is probably the best book of the Kate Redman series so far. I wanted to keep reading the book nonstop but I also didn't want it to end. Her sense of justice almost overpowers everything in her life. This is what makes you be on her side yet I'm sure hard for those around her. Although I received the book for review, if you want an intelligent read, you can't go wrong with this series and it's author.

Celina Grace can hold her head high among police procedural authors

The rampant institutional and celebrity child abuse of the 1970s and '80s has produced numerous police procedurals dealing with the issue, and Celina Grace's offering can walk tall among heavyweights like Peter Robinson. Her approach includes a strong personal aspect to the story, and addresses the long term destruction and disfunction suffered by the victims and their future families. Grace is a fine writer and a good storyteller. Her characters are engaging and believable. I particularly enjoy her Kate Redman series and look forward to every new title.

Not a Simple Case of Murder

Grace has developed Kate's charactor thoroughly: Kate is smart, strong, and yet wrought with underlying emotions. Echo continues Kate's story, with a dark "cold case" in the forefront. The plot is more than a "simple" case of murder and captured my interest through the last page. The mystery is new, but the charactors are like visiting with someone you know well. I enjoyed the addition of a new charactor and the return of a previous one.

Clean reading

I love Ms. France's books. They keep me wondering what Ms. Redman is going to do next. N added plus for me is the clean language and lack of explicit sexual contacts. It is nice to read a clean book.

You'll care about the characters in this book.

Old crimes, covered up for many years. I have liked all the Kate Redman books--and this one especially appealed to me as I was drawn into the paid of the victimes and of Kate herself. I cared about them all, and about the truth coming out. Finished it in one sitting and feel both good about the resolution and eager to spend more time with Kate.

Getting the truth out into the open

I like Kate Redman who is an uncompromising and brave detective prepared to put herself and her job in danger in the pursuit of the guilty, whoever they are. Her compassion for the women victims grows out of her own personal experience. She is tough on the outside but tender in the centre.

I cried!

I love this character. I cried for Kate Redman. I gave it a 4 stars because Celina Grace's stories are too short for me. In this story I would have loved to have witness the confrontation and capture of the main antagonist. Great book, great character!
