Delightful from start to finish

I am so glad that Emily Organ has written Book 7 of the Churchill and Pemberly cozy mystery series. Fiasco at the Jam Factory is great fun. I realized how much I missed Churchill and Pemberly as soon as I began reading because they are unlike any other detectives. You will laugh at their stunts and be amazed that they do solve crimes the hapless police Inspector Mappin is unable to figure out.

This time the dynamic duo is working on the murder of Church bell ringer Mr Spooner who was crushed by a falling bell from the belfry of St. Swithins Church. Mr. Spooner was generally disliked so the suspect pool was large.

There were also the additional mysteries of a stolen family recipe for plum jam and a stolen figurine of a courting couple that was hilariously referred to as something indecent. The figurine was owned by Miss Higgenbath, the prissy librarian. Mrs. Churchill has been denied a reading ticket to take out books on loan. Will she get back in this difficult woman's good graces and be able to visit the library?

It's a good thing the people of Compton Poppleford offer tea and cake when Mrs. Churchill comes to call with her questions because this is apparently what fuels her brain cells. You will laugh at their daring escapades and be amazed when the elderly ladies best the police again to solve the cases.

Throughout, Emily Organ sprinkles her odd names, like Barnfather, Drumhead and many others, to make it even more fun.
You'll read this book fast because you will love it so much.

I was given a copy for review but I wouldn't have changed a word if I'd bought it.

Cozy Comfy Mystery

Of all the series by Emily Organ, Churchill and Pemberley is my favorite. I've read them all in this series and when each book ended I began looking forward to the next. Fiasco at the Jam Factory is no exception. It's an easy read with believable characters, clean language, and a sweet dog. You'll wonder what a dead church bellringer and jam have to do with each other.... But if i told you that, it wouldn't be a mystery for you, now would it?

Least favorite in series

I found this book to be dull and weak. The characters were lackluster. I definitely recommend the others in the series but not this one.

Uproarious Outlandish Churchill & Pemberly Escapade

I received an advanced copy, and am delighted by this latest addition to the series. While our protagonists grow in sleuthing skills and ability to run circles (powered by pastries) around the inspector, they also become bolder in their outlandish, uproarious schemes to catch the latest murderous malefactors in their village. The laugh out loud plot lands virtually everyone in a sticky situation. Thank you Emily Organ!

Fun & Fiasco at the Jam Factory!

Churchill and Pemberley have once again stumbled into a jam, this time at a real jam factory! But this time they may have taken on more than they can chew.

Times are a bit slow at the detective agency, with their only job the theft of a dubious figurine owned by Churchill’s nemesis, Mrs. Higginbath, the local librarian. When the head bell ringer, Jeremy Spooner, is found dead under a huge bell at the local church, Churchill & Pemberley are on the case, much to the chagrin of Inspector Mappin.

Motives abound in the death with the pair discovering that Spooner was not well liked. Not only by the other bell ringers, but most of the people in the town. However, Churchill is convinced that Mappin has accused the wrong man of the murder, and sets about to prove it.

While questioning Spooner’s widow, they discover his prized jam recipe has been stolen, presumably through the kitchen window. She is convinced that the current owner of the jam factory, Mr. Lipcup is the culprit. But how to prove it?

Churchill believes the only solution is to break in to the jam factory and find the missing recipe. When on a tour of the factory, Mr. Lipcup mentions all his “secret” recipes are kept securely in his office safe. So, how are Churchill, Pemberley, and their trusty dog Oswald, going to obtain the evidence locked in the safe?

She soon learns that the remaining bell ringers have other talents, mostly illegal. Soon she has a cadre of helpers to break in to the jam factory; a lockpick, a safe cracker, a lookout and a getaway car. Of course, things do not go as planned.

Will Churchill end up in the slammer? Did they find the stolen jam recipe? And how does the stolen racy figurine fit into the picture? How will they get out of this jam and solve the mystery?

It’s another fun-filled adventure with Churchill & Pemberley, private detectives of Compton Poppleford!

I received an advanced reader copy, but these comments are solely my own. I highly recommend “Fiasco at the Jam Factory,” by Emily Organ

Another delicious C&P whodunit

What sort of jam have Churchill and Pemberley created for themselves this time? They are experts at falling into curious, and hilarious, situations wherever they might go. Bell ringers, jam makers and figurine lovers provide quite a mix of mysteries for the lady detectives to sort out. Emily Organ has created another delightful story for you to enjoy. I always enjoy a Churchill and Pemberly mystery. This one did not disappoint. My only complaint is that I finished reading it already. I am anxiously waiting for the next one!
