I really enjoyed this book I couldn't put it down

I really enjoyed this book I couldn't put it down. FBI agent Riley Lambert at the age of ten watched helplessly as her sister was abducted from her bedroom. Riley swore she would find her sister and bring her back home died or alive. She became a FBI profiler and she is very good at her job. In between her cases she uses the FBI resources to search for her sister. A year ago she went to a little town of Singing River, Wyoming to talk with a woman who's daughter had gone missing just before Riley's sister.

She met Navy SEAL Thayne Blackwood who swept her off her feet. They spent a beautiful week together. Not wanting it to end what they had started they have a standing date on the phone every Friday night if they both can get to a phone. Coming off a very bad case Riley is ordered by her boss to take two weeks off and get some needed rest. Her boss even went as far as blocking her out of all FBI data bases.

Navy SEAL Thayne Blackwood had to take leave to come home because his Dad was sick. His Dad is the sheriff of Singing River. Now Thayne is a deputy for the time being, when he gets a call from his sister Cheyenne saying someone was breaking into her clinic. Calling for back up Thayne rushes to the clinic, he finds his grandmother unconscious and bleeding but no Cheyenne. His grandmother is the only witness to what happened to Cheyenne but she has Alzheimer's doesn't have many good days. He needs help so he calls Riley, she fly's down to help. Bodies are dropping and secrets are coming out from everywhere. They are fighting against time to find Cheyenne, and it looks like Riley's past and Thayne's present are colliding.

Wonderful!

I have been anxiously awaiting the next book in the Montgomery Justice series. During one of my many checks to see if the book was out yet, I found Forgotten Secrets. This book was incredible and very hard to put down before finishing. The author tackled several difficult topics with tremendous skill: the trauma of kidnapping, identifying with other victims, parents being engaged and aware of the people in their childs' life, parents showing favoritism for one child over another (and what it does to the unloved child), Alzheimer's (where Ms. Perinis' personal experience came out), PTSD, problems with timely and knowledgeable intervention for veterans, lack of medical help in remote areas, and any others I may not have mentioned. I was glad to be given a happy ending........as we all know, in a real-life scenario, the ending would most likely have been different. Ms. Perini did a great job of creating potential for a whole series with the secondary characters in this book. I am eagerly awaiting the next book!

A home run!

Robin Perini hits a home run with Forgotten Secrets. With a soul deeply wounded by the disappearance of her older sister during childhood, Riley is relentless in her determination to solve the mystery of her sister's kidnapping. As an FBI profiler, RIley is consumed by her work, finding little time for personal relationships. However, she has managed to carry on a long-distance relationship with Thayne, a Navy SEAL who is also dedicated to his work. When Thayne's sister is also kidnapped, Riley teams up with him to bring his sister home. In the process, a web of secrets is revealed.

Robin Perini his a home run in this book, providing non-stop twists and turns. The action is fast-paced, and her writing style is clear and easy to read. I found the main characters in the book very like able and would be glad to read more by this author. Recommended!

Great mix of suspense and romance

This is my type of romance novel; it seems like more of a crime drama with the romance subtly scattered throughout. I think it achieves a great balance in this way.

The book has a few different storylines happening at the same time, but it's done in a way that's very easy to follow. Deputy Thayne Blackwood is a Navy SEAL who has returned home temporarily to help out while his father, the Sheriff, is dealing with medical issues. Special Agent Riley Lambert is a profiler for the FBI who helps track down serial killers, and has also been trying to locate her sister, who was abducted from their home 15 years prior. Thayne and Riley have had weekly phone "dates" for the past year, after a chance meeting in Thayne's hometown. But now, Thayne's sister has been abducted, and he calls on Riley for her help and expertise find out what happened to her, and hopefully return her home safely. This novel definitely kept me on the edge of my seat with plenty of twists to keep it from being too predictable (though, admittedly, it was a tad predictable in some spots), and it definitely tugged at my emotions quite a few times as well. Like I said, the romance is pretty subtle throughout the novel; it's there, but it doesn't overwhelm the main plot.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Forgotten Secrets." It's been a while since I've read a book that I had a hard time putting down, but I finished this one in only three sittings! Much thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a complimentary copy of this book for review.
