Not for kids

My daughter wanted a cookbook that she could make recipies on her own. These are way too complicated. Too many ingredients. Too many steps. Even simple pankcakes has them using a blender, and the oven, as well as the griddle. These are cute dishes to make for kids, but not for kids to make on their own.

Not a “kids” cookbook, if you’re expecting the kids to eat the meals.

This says it’s a kids cookbook, and maybe there are kids in this world who would eat the foods in this book. I’ve just never met them. No way are any of the kids I know going to eat half the foods in this book. I, on the other hand, plan to make most of these recipes for myself! I would enjoy almost all of them.

Finally, a book for cooking, not just assembling!

So many kid cookbooks are essentially just assembly instructions. This book is not. My 6-year and 8-year old sons loved cooking the three recipes we’ve tried so far, and they were all extremely tasty. They required some actual cooking, and seemed on the healthy side of the spectrum, which I appreciate. I personally have found myself going back over and over to this book’s recipe for roasting carrots because it’s so much faster/easier/tastier than anything I’ve done previously. My children decided to take a break from cooking, but I know that when they want to go back, we’ll find more fun and delicious things to try!

Great for 7 and up!

My daughter loves this book! The recipes are very healthy. Pancakes are made with bananas instead of flour and sugar :) but the ideas and designs are perfect. We just tweak them a bit to suit our taste buds.
I love that it is food, dessert and drinks :)

Almost kept for myself

My nephew LOVES to help cook. He excels at seriously every sport and he just got into roller blading, but I’ve never been athletic so one thing we do a lot when I’m watching him is cook or bake. He enjoys watching cooking shows with me and I love to cook, so it makes me so happy to see him so eager to learn. He recently turned 9 and thought it would be such a great idea to get him a cook book and supplies. I almost got a different book, but I stumbled upon this one and I looked at a few recipes first and I was like “ok I really want to make this??????” sooooooo I had to get it. He ripped open the wrapping paper and pulled out the book and I wasn’t actually expecting him to be THAT excited over a book 😂 We caught him reading the recipes in the book during dinner, he only took one bite because he was reading the whole time and pointing to the dishes and saying “OKAY WE GOTTA MAKE THAT FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING.” Score!!!!!!! Good auntie flex 💪🏼
