Born and raised in coastal New England, she now lives as a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. (She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her phobia of being landlocked). When not writing, she enjoys horseback riding, playing with her pets, identifying dogs from photos of their underbellies, concocting all sorts of yummies (both liquid and solid), and, most of all, reading things someone else had to agonize over.

Disappointing. Where did Wynn from the previous book go?

Yikes. I wasn't a fan of Fil in the previous book but the premise was good enough to try this next one since it was about Wynn and I found her far more interesting than Fil. That is until I read this book. Talk about disappointing. The confident, interesting, and seemingly intelligent Wynn from the first book went "poof" and was replaced by an angsty, childish, nit wit. Her repetitive (pages and pages) excuse of not wanting to be with Knox bcuz she'd eventually be pushed out as a Warden was eye-rolling ridiculous and didn't make a lick of sense. Knox was actually more interesting than Spar's character but then he did the creep factor of getting touchy feely with Wynn while she was asleep. The author calls the act out to try and make it less creepy but i found it completely made me lose interest and dropped Knox's character to creepy dude. The book then just went on and on with Wynns internal childish thoughts, resentments, and other boring descriptions that I flipped through nearly the entire book. Knox overuse of "little witch" got old real quick. The end scene with her brother got interesting and that's about it. The author is a good writer and I hope like some of the other authors I've encountered who write well (but not necessarily put out a good story) that trudging through some of these books will reveal a jewel. Otherwise I barely finished this book.

This one’s a winner in my book! :)

This is the third book in the Gargoyle series. The plot seems to be thicken and only revealing little pieces as a time to the Guardians and their Wardens. We meet a new Guardian named Knox, and he is very similar to his brothers in his fierce protectiveness and stubbornness towards his mate. Poor Wynn has her own insecurities to deal with, the new Guardian, her missing brother, and even more trouble coming.

Knox's instincts tells him she's his she is special. However Wynn is a witch...he needs to convince her that she's his mate and also needs to keep her safe from his enemies who attacking and killing the Guardians. I loved her character, because she wasn't easily swayed or accepting of the fact that she was his mate because he said so.....she was a challenge to him throughout the story and didn't give in so easily. I enjoyed Wynn character as when she first met Knox she was ready to dismiss him because she was pissed off that she could not be a Warden. There was confrontation, friction, and lots of denial going on from pretty much everyone..Full of mystery as Wynn and Knox seek out her missing brother and a nice touch to add in her uncle as they need all the help they can get.

Warren has created memorable, compelling characters and a rich, well-conceived world in Gargoyles Series . Unlike so many series popular at the moment, this book does not rely on placing the main characters in some life-threatening situation in the first chapter to gain the reader's attention. Instead, Warren takes time to introduce us to Knox and Wynn, showing us what these characters are like, discovering personality traits and weaknesses. It's such a refreshing change to simply watch the characters demonstrate their more interesting qualities instead of simply being told 'she's really independent and clever' or 'he's dark and brooding. Warren gives the reader the rare opportunity to find these details on his/her own, creating a bond between characters and reader that has been sorely lacking in recent literature.

So if you like sarcastic heroines who make you smile and enjoy seeing them teamed up with a super alpha then this delivers. Amusing and very well written. loved these characters and this world; the world building and potential was tremendous. Knox and Wynn were great complements for each other; they completed each other and made the other better without making the other irrelevant. In a nutshell, what’s not to love with Hard As A Rock ? There’s action aplenty, plot advancement, character development, and romance. I can not wait for Book 4 (This one’s a winner in my book! :)

"...the suspense of a dangerous situation and teams it up with the discovery of love and throws in just enough lightheartedness"

Wynn Powe is a witch who comes from a really long line of Wardens, who are those humans who connect with the Guardians and work at keeping humans safe from the Order of Eternal Darkness. Now almost all of the Wardens have either gone missing or have been killed. Wynn had been worried about her brother, who is a Warden, for a while now, because he has also gone missing. When she was asked by a couple of newly awakened Guardians and their Wardens to go to Chicago and see if she could find another sleeping Guardian and wake him up, Wynn easily agreed.

Knox is a new Guardian having taken that place of a Guardian who was destroyed by the Order. While Knox might not have any experience on Earth, he does have all the memories of the Guardian he replaced. When Knox is suddenly called forth by Wynn, neither of them knows exactly how she called him to her since the stone Gargoyle that should have been there had been destroyed. Knox isn’t sure about what is going on around him, but he quickly learns that things are not good and that everything the previous Guardians had worked for was about to be destroyed by the Order.

Knox and Wynn team up to find out what is being planned at Chicago and to stop at least this cell in Chicago. As they piece things together, it becomes pretty clear that what the Order has planned is huge and, as the time comes closer to the showdown, Knox and Wynn call in the other Guardians and Wardens to help. On the night of the showdown, things are going as planned until Wynn discovers just how personal this takedown is going to get. Now, Wynn is struggling to do what she knows needs to be done and to ignore what her heart is telling her. A split second decision will either win the night for the Guardians and their Wardens, or it will give the Order their first big win in their plan to bring eternal darkness to this world.

A newly-minted Guardian and a woman who dreams of becoming a Warden team up to defeat a true evil and discover love along the way. Knox and Wynn get everything they want and more in Hard as a Rock. Wynn had been told ‘no’ so many times that I was happy to see that she was given the chance to fulfill her family destiny. Knox came to life with a chip on his shoulder, however, I loved that it didn’t take Wynn long to show him that it needed to go. Seeing how they went from a testy partnership to a loving couple went hand in hand with the suspense and danger of their mission. I also loved Wynn’s kooky uncle and how he stepped in to help when needed. Hard as a Rock takes the suspense of a dangerous situation and teams it up with the discovery of love and throws in just enough lightheartedness to keep things flowing to a heartbreaking and loving ending.
