My 9 year olds devoured this book!

I told my kids that if they read the book cover to cover that I'd give them each $100 to start investing. One kid took a couple weeks to get through it, the other finished it in one day. I started investment accounts for them on robinhood.com and let them pick out their own stocks. They love to watch their money grow (and sometimes shrink) each day. What a great book! I deducted a star because the book physically fell apart--not good quality.

A great resource for teaching kids about money

I got this to teach my kids about budgeting and saving on their level as part of our homeschool curriculum. The primary learners I was targeting were my 7, 9, and 13 year olds. The book does a great job of explaining concepts, laying out a plan, and giving advice about topics including earning money, getting a job, and budgeting. A lot of the material is beyond the needs of my younger two, but everyone has been interested in the book, and we can always reread it in a few years. My favorite thing about it is the graphic presentation of the material. I also like the emphasis on saving. My husband and I used Dave Ramsey to get out of debt several years ago, and since then I have wanted to do some economic education with the kids. This isn't affiliated with Dave Ramsey at all, but it has similar principals, and it fit the bill for me.

One caveat: It may give your kids ideas. For example, early on in the book a sidebar told a story of a boy who saved up to buy a dirt bike, which is EXACTLY what my 13 year old wants to do. Unfortunately, we live in the city and our yard is typically full of his siblings and there is just nowhere to ride. Also, I am a neuro nurse who has cared for patients who have met terrible ends on the seat of a dirt bike (and the trajectory off of one), so that is never going to happen while he lives at home. So, it may put you in the position of having to say no to something that is in a book that YOU gave your kid. See the problem? But otherwise, great book.

Great info - poor quality

I'm so disappointed. We received this book 2 days ago and we didn't even make it to Ch. 2 before the pages started falling out. Now I'm trying to glue them in without getting them all stuck together so my daughter and I can finish reading it together. I love the information and the way it's written, but I'm very sad it's already falling apart. I had intended to keep it for my daughter to fill out and go back and reference, but not sure how logical that is considering we'll have to keep all the pages together somehow. I'm not sure what other formats it's available in, but I would consider something other than the paperback version.

MUST HAVE BOOK FOR ANY AGE!!

I absolutely love this book! I first saw it at a FedEx Office location for 12 dollars and checked to see if I could get it cheaper on Amazon and of course it was on here. This book really outlines why it is important to start saving and ideas about how to start investing. This book is great for any age and the graphics are fantastic. It keeps my attention and really has a lot of funny and super helpful tips. I HIGHLY Recommend this book and will be looking at buying other books by this author.

My son is loving it!

We've just started but so far my son likes this. He really loved the section on the 5 things you can do to raise your first 100. He loved the 6th thing (steal it) and the mention that you can't do that, and that's why there are 5. Love it! It will be interesting to see if he makes it. He actually already has his $100 saved up!

Great information for us all! This is something we should have learned in grade or high school!

I bought it because I watch Biz Kids on tv. I also bought it for a grandson who has moved out on his own. I'm considering purchasing one for each of my grandkids in high school.

It is information that they should know as they dream about and think about how they will be supporting themselves and developing their career/life plans.

I'm in my 60's and wish I would have had this 25 years ago before I went through my divorce. I had no idea about my financial life. I was a young catholic girl when was married, with the 'expectation' that I would get married, have children and live happily ever after. Never once was I given the opportunity to see or know about our financial status, I didn't know anything about this part of life - and it basically ruined me.

Great information for kids about all aspects of money

My 10 yr old son loves this book! It’s inspired him to save, earn and make his own money, and he’s already planning for his future. The layout makes it fun and easy to read, and there is so, so much information on things like stock market symbols, banks versus credit unions, how to start a business (and inspiring stories of other kids that have done it!), how to get a job, and how to budget your money. There are inspiring stories of millionaires and how they did it, and lots of ideas for how to make money, save and budget wisely. It’s interactive in that there are many places to make notes and set goals, and I like the summaries at the end of each chapter.

Fun Financial Education for Kids (and Adults)

As a proponent of financial education for our youth, I have found this book to be a fitting addition to my grandson's library. He's 10-years old and is starting to grasp the concept and impact of financial decision-making. As most of us can agree, financial skills are not a part of traditional academia, so books like this can literally be worth their weight in gold. The book has provided opportunities for great topics of conversation with respect to financial rules, philosophies, and habits that have generated interest and information that will last a lifetime. The layout is artfully constructed and keeps the attention of most kids (and adults) who take the time to read it.

Fun with Finances

I enjoyed reading this even though I am much older than the target audience. I really like the explanation of compound interest and the stress place on the importance of savings as a long term investment tool. This is a fun and age appropriate book that covers the basics of saving, building wealth, and dealing with set-backs. Honestly, adults could stand to read this book as well. It's a quick and easy read.

Disclaimer, I'm related to one of the authors. However, I bought my own copy and paid full price for it and this review is unsolicited.
