Features & Highlights

  • Step into Cammie Morgan's world of intrigue in the first book of the beloved
  • New York Times
  • bestselling Gallagher Girls series
  • Cammie Morgan is a student at the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women, a fairly typical all-girls school -- that is, if every school taught advanced martial arts in PE and the latest in chemical warfare in science, and students received extra credit for breaking CIA codes in computer class. The Gallagher Academy might claim to be a school for geniuses but it's really a school for spies.Even though Cammie is fluent in fourteen languages and capable of killing a man in seven different ways, she has no idea what to do when she meets an ordinary boy who thinks she's an ordinary girl. Sure, she can tap his phone, hack into his computer, or track him through town with the skill of a real "pavement artist" -- but can she maneuver a relationship with someone who can never know the truth about her?Cammie Morgan may be an elite spy-in-training, but in her sophomore year, she's on her most dangerous mission -- falling in love.

Compared to other books I have read, this one is more of a love story than an adventure book.

Book review September 2021

I'd tell you I love you but then I'd have to kill you by Ally Carter was an interesting read. The main character Cammie and her two friends Liz and Bex go to a boarding school. It turns out it is really a spy school for grades sixth through twelfth. It is an all-girls school. When Cammie goes on her first mission, A boy named Mason is willing to show her what real life is like. This is a book about a girl who wants to find true love. I have read two of Ally Carters other books and I picked this one up thinking it would have some adventure with a hint of romance. This book was a disappointment compared to her others. If you are like me and enjoy exciting romance, may I suggest one of her other books, not if I save you first, I give this book four stars out of five. It is an enjoyable read for someone who is ok with a slow love story. In all this is an enjoyable read, it just was not for me.

Girls at a spy school try to decode the hardest language for them, boy talk

Okay, I'm biased cause Ally's style here is as close as you can get to what I love to write, but I laughed out loud throughout the hilarious adventures at a girls' spy school. Active verbs and just enough imagery to keep things interesting add to the reading pleasure. No exotic locations in this story, since it focuses on the girls' attempts to decode boy talk. Their covert ops training comes in handy (and feety) all the way to the twist ending worthy of junior Jane Bonds.

Favorite Series of All Time

I accredit this book (and series!) for being the reason I am the reader I am today.

When I borrowed this book from a friend, I was a struggling reader who did not like books. I was just trying to kill some time on a long bus ride home from a field trip in 7th grade. Little did I know, I would read the entire ride home and well into that night.

From the first page, I was HOOKED. I love how Ally combines teen drama, espionage, diplomacy, romance, and action into one fantastic book. This book series is in my top 3 favorite series of all time. It worked out that each year a new book in the series released, I was a year older and so was Cammie. I grew up with this series. It aligned so perfectly that the last book of the series released my high school graduation year, so in a way, I graduated with Cammie and the other characters.

To this day, the Gallagher Girl Series will always hold a special place in my heart.

She loved it!

My 11 yr old daughter loved this book along with the others in this series. Her only complaint was there were not more books.

Unfinished

This is a book for teens. Probably would be good if I was one, but passed that stage many, many years ago.

Cute teenage spy story

Exaggerated James Bond style spy action, but written for teenagers with a girl protagonist.
