Features & Highlights

  • THE BOND OF SISTERHOOD
  • For years Myra Rutledge and Annie de Silva, founding members of the Sisterhood, have funded an underground network run by former Supreme Court Justice Pearl Barnes to help women escape abusive relationships. When two of Pearl’s clients fail to report for their weekly check-in, the Sisterhood and their allies begin a search for French model Amalie Laurent and her one-time maid, Rosalee Muno. Amalie’s estranged husband, Lincoln Moss, is a distant cousin of the President of the United States and one of his closest advisers. Moss’s power is matched by the violent streak he hides from the world, and he beat Amalie viciously until she finally escaped with her maid’s help. Moss is accustomed to doing exactly what he wants without fear of consequence. But Moss has never faced an adversary like the Sisterhood…

Reading this was like being invited to the cool kids' party in high school. When you get there, everyone knows each other and no one bothers to introduce you to anyone. You sit in the corner listening to snippets of conversation. Maybe if you had a chance to get to know even one person at the party, you'd have fun, but they all seem to be talking in a private code, and make references to events you weren't at, and people you've never heard of.

They wear nice clothes and talk a lot. A couple of kids stalk each other on Facebook, There's a bit of catfishing. Some girls stick up for a friend, and get a lot of innocent people in trouble along the way, but they don't care 'cause, you know, their friend. They use fake IDs a lot. Someone steals a mean guy's stuff, and he gets pissy and drunk, but no once seems to really care because they're busy figuring out who should go out with who, and who should wear what. Someone falls in the pool, and there's some drinking. Slowly, you realize that these kids aren't really interesting after all, and, even though you stick it out until the end, you go home feeling empty.

Other than that, Michaels still has a deft command of the English language and a fluid style. Maybe if I'd gone to the first party, er, read the first book this would be like hanging out with old friends.

Ridiculous page after page

The story line sounded promising and the cover said "#1 best selling author. How bad could be? The characters are silly and over the top. The story line is one unbelievable twist after another. The only thing missing was someone with amnesia.

Just plain awful

Probably one of the worst books I've read in a long time. So predictable, the characters were extremely annoying, and there was no suspenseful plot.

Couldn't finish it.

Ugh. I got this to listen to on my daily drive to work and halfway through the first chapter was gritting my teeth... made myself continue through several chapters but the writing is so full of cliches it makes my head ache. The writes spends more time describing the food than the characters.
I just realized that this is the second book in a series so maybe that is why the "vigilante" characters seem so empty and flat to me, but there are so many of them (and incidentally none seem to have to actually be at a job at any time?) that don't do much, and even the main ones are more irritating and smug than interesting. They also seem to be a bit stupid at times-- for example, at one point they talk and talk about how important a guy is and how he probably is a key player, but only after a considerable amount of time does someone say "Hey, maybe we should go talk to that guy!" I give credit for the attempt at making an interesting plot, but the story and characters are so shallow that I quickly lost interest and was so annoyed that I just couldn't continue. I rarely quit on a book, but this one's going back to the library. Could be worse, but it's not for me.

I really tried to enjoy this book

I really tried to enjoy this book. Great concept of the story but not engaging. Somewhere in Chapter 9, I finally gave up and moved onto another book.

A very good book

Of course I liked this book Fern Michaels cannot write a bad book. The Sisterhood books do everything we wish we could do in life. I love that people who are wronged get a little vengeance. I want in the Sisterhood!

A Good Read

I love the hilarious conversations between the boys, that I usually laugh out loud. However the girls and boys return, but Bert is hardly mentioned, and Lizzie,Cosmo, and Baby Jack seem like a memory. I agree that it is the same story just different characters. The continuity is again off. When did Jack and Nikki buy Nellie's farm and what happened to Nellie and Elias?
I think in long series the author tends to forget previously storylines or think the readers do. With that said, I still love them because of the hilarious comments.
