Surprisingly good!

I'm a very slow reader so I'm really picky about what I'll waste time on. I'm also obsessed with creepy things, and island of the dolls. I've watched every ghost and travel show about it, and he did a great job describing the super creepy setting. Good character descriptions, a nice twist at the end, and a lovely follow up in the epilogue that have me the closure I needed, I wish more writers do that.
Super easy read, I didn't have to track a lot (LOTR took me years!!), and I didn't feel like anything was missing. I'll be reading more of his books.

“Dolls are just plain spooky”

Another great book in the series. I love how Bates takes these places and adds his own story and twists. I found this book to be very creepy with an unexpected ending. Bates writes in very great detail and often times, it’s quite disturbing. But that’s one of the things I love about his books.

Like the other books of his I have read, Bates could benefit greatly from a good editor. I’ve found errors in most, if not all of his books I’ve read so far and I felt like this one had more than usual. He is otherwise a great writer with a very interesting and creative mind. Worth the read.

Highly recommend his series

So far so good! Hard to put down. I have read the three other books in this series. They have gotten better each book I have read. His writing style really gets you involved with the characters. He brings you there to the place he writes about, great detail! If you like the horror genre you'll love this!

Grabs you right out of the starting blocks!

I bought this book because I was looking for a new horror writer. I read the synopsis of the book and it sounded interesting. I started reading it the day I received it and found it very hard to put down. The character development was great. Once on the Island things took off slowly to build up into a crescendo of excitement. The character Jesus was annoying from the beginning. I did not like him. He thought he knew everything. The island taught him differently! I would recommend this book to anyone that is a fan of King, Little. Great book!!
