Great character development. LOVED IT!

'It's in his kiss' introduces us to Becca Thorpe and Sam Brody (who you might now from a previous Lucky Harbor book Once in a Lifetime). Both have had a tough past and are trying their best to live a better present. Both meet and there are instant *fireworks*. It's your typical attraction at first sight, except it's not because we're talking about a Jill Shalvis book and she has a way to give us something different.

Sam and Brody get to actually spend time together. In a little more than 300 pages, Jill tells us a story of how two people meet, like each other, know each other and fall in love. But it's also a story where you really get to meet both hero and heroine, their thoughts, actions and feelings. And it makes you believe in them, make a connection.

What I loved:

-the clever words and dialogues. I laughed, giggled and grinned.
-the hero and heroine. I got to really know them individually and as a couple.
-the relationships between Sam and his father, Sam and his Mom. Sam and his brothers/best friends.
-Lucille! (It wouldn't be a Lucky Harbor book w/o our oldest resident)
-the appearances from previous heroes, especially the one from book 1.
-the epilogue. I did not see that coming and I LOVED IT.
-the character development.

What I didn't like:

-There was one moment between Sam and Cole about one of their friends that I wish could've been explored more. I felt it was cut abruptly and never brought up again. Although I got a feeling it will be explored more in Tanner's book.

OVERALL:

'It's in His Kiss' is another winner. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and didn't want it to stop because I wanted to spend more time in it. And these are the great books, the ones that make you want more and yet, leave you satisfied.

If you've been following the Lucky Harbor series for a while, you won't want to miss this. And if you haven't followed the series (what are you waiting for?) but are a romance fan, you can't miss it either.

Captivating and fun

I am a huge fan of Jill Shalvis, and while I've not read the entire Lucky Harbor Series, the few I have read I've just loved. Each of the novels are companion novels and can be read as standalones. It's in His Kiss is Sam's story, who we've met as a secondary character in the previous novels. Becca is a new character and I absolutely loved her. Usually I gush on the male leads in a book, because I mean - who doesn't love hot guys, but I really want to fangirl Jill Shalvis on Becca's character in this novel. She is so real and I connected with her immediately. I loved her personality and her sense of humor, and she was just an all around wonderful female lead. Sam is hot, sexy, and a bit broody. I think Becca describes him best with her nickname for him, "SGS - Sexy Grumpy Surfer." Life has hardened him and I really enjoyed seeing him come out of his shell......then there is the hot, sexy, surfer and all that ....swoon!

The story itself brings these two individuals who both have wounds from the past together, despite their reservations. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. I loved watching how Jill Shalvis developed both of these characters and their relationship as the story progressed. The people of Lucky Harbor and the town itself serves as the backdrop for the story, and as in previous novels, you can't help but love this small town. We also get to see some of the characters from previous novels make and appearance, and I really liked Cole and Tanner, who were both prominent secondary characters in this novel and look forward to reading more about them in future installments.

I love Jill Shalvis' writing. Her stories flow beautifully and are fill with romance, fun, and keep you captivated from beginning to end. Jill Shalvis can take what would be just and ordinary contemporary story and turn it into something extraordinary. It only took one of her books for me to become hooked on her writing and I look forward to each new book she writes both in this series, as well as in her other series. If you are a contemporary romance fan, then this is a story you would definitely thoroughly enjoy, and if you've not experienced Jill Shalvis and her writing, then she is an author you definitely need to put on your radar.

Absolute Perfection

I don’t know how Jill Shalvis does it. This is her 10th Lucy Harbor book and each time it still feels like I’m reading something fresh and new. Shalvis takes a place I love and fills it with people that I can’t help but care about. I absolutely love how she takes troubled characters and has them work through their troubles together and separately to make things right, all while having them develop a realistic romance.

It’s In His Kiss meets all the requirements of a perfect end of summer read. A woman you could be friends with. A man you can’t help but stare at (if only the real world were populated with ultra hot guys like Lucky Harbor is). A small town where everyone knows your name (and your business). The ocean. Hot guys to look at. And some feels.

Becca is just making a “pit stop” in Lucky Harbor and looking for a temporary job that she talks Sam into giving her. She was a little more standoffish compared to other Lucky Harbor ladies, but I did like her. She’s also suffering from anxiety over performing in any type of situation. I really liked how the people of Lucky Harbor helped her with this without being obvious about it (except maybe Sam, at the end). She also has a secret that she’s dealing with that causes her to be a bit jumpy. It takes quite awhile before she finally comes clean but you could just feel the relief poor off of her once she finally let it out.

Sam’s “secret” is pretty much out in the open. His dad is a less than awesome father, always borrowing money, and when Sam was a kid he spent some time in foster care. Sam’s dealings with his father were hard. You know that he had to be that way to his father but at the same time it feels like his dad is trying to make things better and you want Sam to see that. Fortunately Becca doesn’t know how to mind her own business and stepped in a few times, despite what Sam wanted.

We also get to meet Cole, Tanner and Olivia, which promises to make the next two (and last two) Lucky Harbor books fantastic. The only thing I wished for more from It’s In His Kiss was some more cameo’s of characters from the previous books. There were a few here and there, but I always want more! And of course Lucille is still around… causing trouble on Pinterst now instead of Facebook.

Overall It’s In His Kiss is a great end of summer read and I look forward to my next two trips to Lucky Harbor!

The latest Lucky Harbor book Sizzles!

"I'm not broken," he said again. Much.
"Well, if you were, I should let you know, I've heard of this remedy..."
"Yeah?"
Again she dragged her teeth over her lower lip. "Maybe it's not a remedy so much as a...temporary fix. Like a Band-Aid," she said, tipping her face to his.

I have been a fan of Jill Shalvis for a little while now and I absolutely LOVE the Lucky Harbor Series. Each time I read a new book I swear it's my favorite and at the time it truly is, but I think It's in His Kiss is my favorite above all the others in this series. We first met Sam in Once in a Lifetime and know him as Ben's running partner and a man of few, if any, words. He has stepped up his dialog in this book and, boy, does he know how to heat things up. Both main characters, Becca and Sam, are battling things from their past that neither are aware of in the beginning but their inward struggles make for some great chemistry whenever they are in close proximity to each other. Each time one gets close to the other you can feel the sexual tension and Jill Shalvis has such a way of weaving it into the story in a completely natural way. I love her writing style because she draws me in a keeps me hooked until the end where she leaves me wanting more of the characters and their lives. I thought Becca's and Sam's nicknames for each other were so cute (she called him Sexy Grumpy Surfer (SGS) and he called her Peeper, lol). I loved Sam's best friends and business partners, Cole and Tanner, and I am anxiously awaiting their stories in the future. I would be heartbroken without reading their story. The characters are so endearing and so well developed and with each book the plot is uniquely it's own. It's in His Kiss is the type of book that hooks you from the beginning and has you panting by the end. The love scenes are just that good! I have come to love the little spot on the map called Lucky Harbor and it's citizens and I promise you will too. If you have been following the series this is a MUST have book! If you are new to this series you can pick this book up and start reading it with no problem because it can be read as a stand-alone novel and you won't regret it! Contemporary romance readers will love it. I am in love with this series and especially this particular book and I highly recommend it!

Ask Sam he knows everything!!!

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 1/2
REVIEW:
Lucky Harbor is just going to be a pit stop in Becca Thorpe’s journey to find happiness. A beautiful pit stop with the Pacific Ocean as it’s backdrop and delicious ranch flavored popcorn. Oh and did I mention the amazing view a very sexy surfer? But that is not way she is here. Men are not on her list. Becca is here to get her life back on track. Except a certain sexy surfer keeps getting in her way.

Sam Brody is the one that everyone comes to. If you have a question in Lucky Harbor the answer is “Go ask Sam, he know everything”. Well Sam just met something, no scratch that someone that he doesn’t know how to handle. Oh he thinks he does, but he doesn’t. Sam’s tough exterior is not going to be any kind protection for the likes of Becca. But the problem is that Sam doesn’t let people close ever.

As with every trip to the to Lucky Harbor I totally fell in love with characters and their story. Sam & Becca are so good together. Once Sam finally get’s over his “rules” ;). I loved the Becca even with her faults is able to weasel her way into Sam’s heart and through the poor guy for a loop. Again I love Lucky Harbor and it’s inhabitants. I really wish I could go visit this please of true love and nosy neighbors. But until Jill tells me the location of this secret town I will wait patiently (okay not so patiently) for the next Lucky Harbor novel.
