Very Good Mystery

Lexie Starr discovers that her new son-in-law may have killed his first wife. She starts to investigate his past life by driving from Kansas to Schenectady, NY. Lexie stays in a Bed & Breakfast run by an eccentric elderly woman named Harriet, who owns a foul mouthed parrot. Harriet is a fun character and ends up helping Lexie in her investigation. Lexie meets a new friend, Stone Van Patten, a jeweler from South Carolina, who also helps her in her effort to find out the truth about her son-in-law. Lexie will do anything to find the truth and protect her daughter, her only child, who has no idea that her husband may be a killer and that she may be next on his list.

This is an exciting book and leaves you surprised at the ending. It is well written and the different locations make for an interesting read. I am anxiously awaiting the next Lexie Starr book in this series.

Fun Mystery!

I just loved this book! A mother searches for her daughter, stays at a B&B run by the most wonderful landlady in the world, meets the man of her dreams (maybe), and follows tons of twists and turns. I enjoyed every word.

Surprisingly entertaining...

I honestly ordered this book (mainly) because the majority of the story takes place in Schenectady, NY- where I was born and raised until the age of 28. I found some of the descriptions to be accurate of my hometown, and some to be fiction. Another reason I ordered it was because of the positive reviews, and it being a murder-mystery. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised- the book was quite entertaining and I couldn't put it down. I finished the book in two evenings. The characters really came to life with the detailed descriptions of the author. It was a very nice story of a mother's unconditional love for her child. A mother with courage, being clever and resourceful- and stopping at nothing to save her daughter and uncover the truth. There was also a new budding love story involving the mother and a new aquaintance, which just makes me want to order the author's second book in the series to see how the relationship blossoms. I am putting it on my Christmas wish list, and looking forward to reading it. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough, as I finished it in just two evenings. It was only 203 pages- half the lenghth of most good books. But it was definately worth reading, perfect for a relaxing evening or weekend read or to take on a trip.
