I've almost always been happy with Lonely Planet guides for destinations all over the world, but I found this one to be somewhat lacking. My primary complaint is that, while it includes a great deal of information about specific restaurants and hotels/resorts, it lacks detail about things to do and see, which, of course, is why people go there in the first place. I was particularly disappointed by the very brief attention it gives to the numerous adventure parks in the area. Still, it's better than nothing, and the selection of travel guides for this region seems very sparse for some reason.

Very general info
Not worth buying, it doesn't provide any specifics, I don't think these people actually went to these destinations, they just compiled information from Google.

When a guidebook hater eats her words

This book legitimately changed my standing hatred towards guidebooks. I love all the information is clear & concise and the typical stuff I ignore (hotels, museums, etc) is a little more squished in between versus taking up most of the room. The first section is in color and highlights some of the places, the middle goes into detail each region, and the back has more tips for traveling to Mexico. Definitely worth the money, I'll be bringing this on my trip in January.

Not recommended for trip for Cozumel

We bought this for our honeymoon to Cozumel, and while it's a great book, we really expected a larger section for Cozumel! It was like 10-15 pages? Pinterest was more useful.

Its a travel encyclopedia, not a guidebook

Really crappy guidebook.
Its like a travel encyclopedia, it tells you absolutely everything about the area whether its tourist attractions, accommodations, or food. That sounds great until you realize they didn't organize this information in any reasonable way. If you are ready to read the whole book and decide on some restaurants to visit and sites to see before you go, its a great book. However if you just want to know what food is good nearby it barely ever has any recommendations, and I've found the recommendations it does have tend to be mediocre and not even close to the best in the area which makes me question the integrity of the recommendations. Its not a good guidebook to whip out when you are hungry and just want to know what the best restaurant around is, travel advisor (if you have internet connectivity) does that job much much better.
