I am so disappointed in Rick Rordian

THIS IS NOT A BOOK FOR YOUNG READERS!!! I am so disappointed in Rick Rordian! It is like he wanted to introduce every controversial topic into his last book. Atheism (main character is atheist and brings it up a lot) Muslim region and practices, transgender and transsexual (the main character falls for a transgender), homosexual (two main characters are clearly homesexual and at the end of the book the main character was kissing a guy), etc.... Not to mention throughout the entire book (at least every other page) someone is killing and murdering someone. It is disgusting and I can’t imagine the conversation or questions that would arise if I let my kids read this.

Tired, hackneyed, and grossly politicized

The jokes seem forced, the plot is threadbare, the friendships are unrealistic and overblown– and this entire series is one long propaganda-fest for Transgenderism (one of the characters is constantly changing magically from male to female and back again).
Percy Jackson was wonderful, Kane series was good– but give this series a miss.

Garbage! I Our entire family have truly loved the 1st three series (Greek, Egyptian, and Greek and Roman, in that order) of this author! Why did he feel the homosexual, bisexual, and gender-fluid agenda needed to be pushed in a kid's series?!?

Transgender feelings shoved down your throat every other page

Towards the end of the 2nd book was bad enough but the 3rd was horrible. I couldn't focus on the main story plot without being told how and why the main character should act around a transgender every other page. Couldn't even get through the 1st few chapters. The only book of any of his series I could't finish, such a shame and a waste of potentially great series. I hope he doesn't keep the trend going.

AWESOME

This cover is gorgeous. I got my copy of the book delivered yesterday, on release day, and I cannot get over it. SO PRETTY.

Now, onto the book. I love these characters. I want them all as my friends. Just like I did with Percy and Carter and Sadie and Apollo. So basically, everyone is awesome. Happy sigh.

The actual story: awesome. I mean, duh. Gotta say, the Greek gods are MUCH better at rewarding heroes, but what Magnus ended up doing was super cool and I LOVE it. Speaking of love...Malex forever! Page 262. :) Crazy smile.

Okay, so speaking of crazy smiles, that's all I had on my face these past two days. I read some of this book at school, so hopefully I didn't look too weird. The Ship of the Dead was super cool. Magnus and his friends had to do a bunch of impossible stuff and other kickass things. As always, the various Norse gods, jotun, elves, etc. were present. Good stuff. It made for some humorous and deadly (luckily not to Magnus or his friends) scenes.

This book revealed a lot of backstory on the einherjar. Mallory, Halfborn, T.J. It was heartbreaking, and interesting, and funny. I liked this a lot.

Oh, and WE SAW PERCY!!!!!!!!!! BADABADABADA!!!!!! Ahem. Anyway, something is happening down in New York. At least according to Annabeth at the end of the book. Also, Percy was there, like I said. He has a little sister, Estelle Blofis. :) :) :) Happy sigh. Squeal. Other noises that occur when Percy Jackson appears and is his beautiful self.

So yeah. 5 stars.

The Ship of the Dead was a great conclusion to the Magnus Chase series

The Ship of the Dead was a great conclusion to the Magnus Chase series, however I did think it was the weakest entry of the three books. The first 150 pages or so were just way to convenient and predictable to look pass for a higher rating. This doesn't deter me though from saying this book was loads of fun and exciting. After we got pass the speed bumps of the first 1/4 of the book, Ship of the Dead truly shined. What Magnus Chase does best for me is how it develops its characters. You really got a more in-depth look into all the characters with this final book. Some more then others yes but every character had a spotlight moment. The plot ties up wonderfully but also leaves a door open to continue the series. Rick Riordan never disappoints his readers and if he does choose to continue Magnus' story best believe I will be along for the ride.

Too politically correct

Sad to say I think I'm done with Rick Riordan. I feel like he's pushing this politically correct thing too hard and doing it just to press a viewpoint on his readers or feels like he needs to overdo it for whatever reason.

Don't get me wrong, I love how Samirah is so dedicated to her religion in a world that should be forcing her to rethink everything. And Alex may be my favorite character. But it all just seems forced and that throws me out of a book faster than anything. Very disappointed

So disappointed. Love Riordan's books

So disappointed. Love Riordan's books, but I feel he really missed the mark with this series. I love Viking lore as well. This series should have been my favorite, but it is the least exciting and detailed of all his storylines. I am hoping the next one improves vastly or I will stop following this series.

Disappointing

We loved the Percy Jackson series and hoped this would be similar. While entertaining, the author has definitely jumped on the leftist bandwagon. This is not a book I would allow my child to read.
