Minecraft: The Survivors' Book of Secrets: An Official Mojang Book

A very brief collection of tips on how to survive in Minecraft. The book is short, which should make it a nice read for kids interested in Minecraft. I realize the book is modeled after WW2-esque survival books for soldiers abroad, where brevity and portability are crucial, but I was hoping for a bit more. Given that goal of being a 'survival handbook' rather than a fully fleshed-out guide, the book never goes into too much detail about how to do things; it is more about planting the idea of doing something, rather than giving a step-by-step guide--although it does have some nice instructional drawings that complement the text.

As brief as the book is, a sizable chunk of the book is dedicated to combat--fighting and tricking other players or mobs. I would've preferred that same level of dedication to other aspects of the game, like mining, farming, exploration and map-making, redstone and automation, village and villager mechanics (including breeding and trading), the Nether, and the End, all of which were either only briefly mentioned or not mentioned at all.

That said, I do recommend the book. I love the matte/textured feel and color of the hardcover, and I think it looks nice on a bookshelf.

Just got it today! I thougth it was a little small for its size! But great looking cover. I am on page 50 rigth now. I gotta say this book is great and had some facts i didnt know. I mostly bougth this for pvp facts. Great book! Would recmmond to any fan of the game!

My 8 year old adores this book. Although he has several others he is constantly using this one.

Although the kids have other Minecraft books I'm glad to report they learned some new tricks.

This book is a great book! It includes everything about PVP and setting up a base, as well as on how to defeat minecraft mobs. This book is not for beginners, it is more likely for advanced minecrafters. The book contains information on how to set up a pretty good base, if you are a complete looser at defeating other players, then this book will teach you how to deal with them. When I bought the book it came in hardcover and was quite small, but it had a vintage look other than most books. It has 105 pages as well as some pages for you to write down your own stuff. The pages are not color, but they have veery nice illustrations. This book was also written by the author that wrote minecraft essential handbook. This book covers evreything in 1.9 so if it is outdated, then don't be bummed out. The book is a great read.

Other than that, there is not much to say, bye!!

Fun fan book. I am happy with it, but very few tips inside are going to be of use on Minecreaft PVP servers or clan wars. It's like someone played the game with no lot claims and tnt protection. Creating traps in bases doesn't really work unless you are on a server without claiming land.

This book has lots of tips about how to survive in Minecraft. It also tells you things you need to do things in the game, like going to places that are dangerous. The cover is pretty plain. The pictures in the book are ok, but they are not in color so you can’t tell what blocks to use in the crafting recipes. That’s a bit of a problem.

I really like the whole book because it had lots of good information. The only problem is that it seems like they expect you to have a lot of every material. I think the book is for more advanced players.

I learned a few new things though: 1.how to craft a lot of things; 2.how to build a well-defended base; and 3.how to kill strong mobs.

Overall, I thought it was a really good book. I think just about everybody who plays Minecraft would like this book, but especially those who have been playing for a while.

This was a great book! My son loved it. "Amazingly well drawn, well written, nicely furnished. I loved it, and the tips were extremely good, helpful, and not widely known. It's good to have not-widely known secrets known to you because you can use these to help you make and raid bases. I'd recommend this to all my Minecrafter friends!"

I picked up a copy of this book after I saw one page from it on reddit. If you’re super into Minecraft you should probably already have this book. I had to buy a second one for a friend because he couldn’t put it down either. Lots of fun ideas and useful information.
