And the fashion is to die for!" - Molly C. Quinn, actress, Castle "This title found me totally engrossed in my reading to the point of skipping bedtime 'til the tale was complete. The mystery of who was the murderer was done well - I did not guess until the end. " ~ Andra, Amazon reviewer"Murder on the S. S. Rosa by Lee Strauss is a short prequel to the Ginger Gold cozy mystery series that has all the hallmarks of a fascinating mystery series . Charles A. Ray - Amazon reviewer "Absolutely fabulous! I really could not enjoy a series any more than this one." xa0Terri Donaldson - Amazon reviewer"Oh, Gosh! I didn't plan on getting hooked on yet another series, but I can't help it! I really, really like Ginger Gold! She is sharp as a tack, has guts, and knows what she wants and how to get it! Each one of these stories was practically un-put-downable. Plots are very intriguing, characters very well developed, and extremely well written. If you're a fan of the Australian series 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries', you'll love Ginger Gold!" JAM - Amazon reviewer"This was an incredible read. The characters were full of life, and very likeable. The plot was engaging, and kept me guessing until the end. I read this straight through, only stopping when life made me. Highly recommended! " Mary Moon - Amazon reviewer "I love the Ginger Gold mysteries! Strauss makes the 20's come alive with her costumes and society happenings. These are a fun read and good mysteries as well. The attention to little details makes the books even better . You feel you are there. Strauss keeps the suspense and twists coming fast." - Jan, Amazon reviewer "Lady Gold is Solid Gold! Ginger Gold is a true lady, in both manners and title. She owns her own boutique, and manages to find time to solve mysteries. She can always count on her best friend, Haley, who is a medical student who assists the coroner. The cast of characters is rich and each is different in the most fantastic way." Katie Thompson - Amazon reviewer

I love this series, but...(spoilers)

I really love this series. Enjoyable cozy mysteries. But, I just came across a TV series on Amazon Prime called "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries", that are basically the same thing. So similar, I thought the TV series was maybe based on these books. 1920's wealthy lady detective with bob haircut, fabulous wardrobe, carries a gold-plated pistol, drives a car, who has a tomboy lady doctor friend, a sweet maid, has an older aunt who cares a great deal about the social classes, she takes in a street child, and inserts herself into the investigations of crimes that a handsome inspector (who is estranged from his wife) is trying to solve with the help of a young constable. So I checked the dates and the Miss Fisher mysteries came out in, I think 2012, and these books were published beginning in 2018 I think. So, was the Ginger Gold character based on (or stolen from *GASP*) the Miss Fisher character? I mean seriously. Somebody go watch the Miss Fisher mysteries and see how similar the characters are. Don't get me wrong, I love both, but definitely makes me go hmmm. If I was the creator of the Miss Fisher character, I would probably cry foul.

A fun way to pass the time

SPOILER ALERT: A 3.5, but I rounded up because I'm enjoying this series. In "Murder at Hartigan House" we are introduced to a few members of Ginger's family and household servants who, I'm guessing, will play parts in future books.

I do think the mystery was too easily solved. Mrs. Thornton acted suspiciously from the get go. I was a little surprised Ginger didn't wonder more about her. And when she brought Ginger the tea near the end, I was thinking "Don't drink it!" But, of course, she did. At least she realized the truth (thanks to the message from Haley) before drinking too much. I guess the old adage about servants bleeding into their surroundings and not being noticed by the gentry came in to play here.

I'm also guessing that the relationship between Ginger and Basil Reed will move along at the pace of a glacial transformation. Sigh. Oh well, as long as it moves along in the right direction. Reading this series is a nice, fun way to pass the time.

It's fine, I guess...

Mildly entertaining. It's fluffy, but fine. The writer is trying really hard, but more often than not, the genie doesn't make it out of the lamp.
