Very satisfying Christmas after all!

I read an advanced copy of this book and have read the series, but I think you'd enjoy it as a standalone despite mentions of previous incidents.

It's the classic British Christmas with several mysteries to solve about the assorted guests in a mansion in the country. Snow, bodies, blackmail, and what could have been a romantic heartbreak of misunderstanding actually resolved by common sense and communication! So nice to see people act like one would hope they acted in real life. I get tired of the jealous/conflict trope magically being fixed by circumstance.

The romance is like the sparkle on the snow but the real meat of this mystery is figuring out what exactly is going on before the weather allows Scotland Yard to get there.

I really liked it and will be reading it again soon.

Many characters

Sarah Rosett books are always well written. This one, however, had so many characters I was confused part of the time. Perhaps, this was because I hadn't read any others in this particular series. All others I read were Ellie Avery. I wished she had a list of characters at the beginning of the book and explained who each one was in Murder on a Midnight Clear.

Historical mystery

Another great addition to the High Society Lady Detective series. The colorful descriptions will pull you back to the 1920's where Olive is helping her sweetheart, Jasper, look into a crime but that is not the only thing she wants to investigate.

Thanks to the author for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

Great Christmas cozy mystery

This would be a great present for a cozy mystery lover. Or to read when you’re escaping December craziness - or any time of year when you want that “curl up with a book in Christmas vacation” feeling. Right from the opening, you’re in the scene enjoying the sights and sounds of the season. *Note: I received an advance review copy*

Wonderful Christmas mystery

I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas themed mystery. I have not read all the High Society Lady Detective books but in the few, I have enjoyed the 1920's vibe and the great friendship between Olive and Jasper. In this the 6th book in the series, I was excited to see that friendship go up a notch. The way that Olive and Jasper work together to solve their mysteries is also enjoyable to follow. I did receive an ARC of this book but this review is all my own making.
