Did not care for authors style of writing.

Author uses many unusual words. Words that I needed to look up to find out what author was referring too. NOT written for the average reader. Will never buy another book from this author!!

A Glorious Romp

I am now a permanent Vivienne Lorret fan. My Kind of Earl was so much fun to read that I couldn’t wait to finish, and I kept sneaking in a chapter here and there when I should have been doing something else. Raven enchanted me from the first page, and Jane’s delightfully intense vocabulary sent me diving for the dictionary more times than I could count—almost embarrassing for someone who works with words for a living. Their conversations made me snort with laughter and weep in the most unexpected moments. The secondary characters were skillfully drawn—intriguing and unique but never overpowering of the main characters’ story arc. The Mating Habits of Scoundrels is a delightful series, and I’m truly looking forward to book 3.

A unique plot and likeable characters.

Jane grew up in an aristocratic home, but was all but ignored by her flighty parents. She was the oldest and essentially raised and educated her younger siblings. Jane was bookish and scientific, with an analytical mind. Raven, who worked in the gambling hell owned by Reed Stirling (from the book Rogue to Ruin) was an orphan who was raised in a work house. He was abused and didn't trust anyone. They met in unique circumstances, and Jane's observant eye and curiosity forged a friendship, in the quest to discover Raven's parentage. This story was so good, and I loved the characters!

Blue-Blood meets Blue-Collar

MY KIND OF EARL by Vivienne Lorret is the second book in the Mating Habits of Scoundrels series. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about blue-blood Jane Pickerington and blue-collar Raven.

Jane is writing a book on the difference between a scoundrel and a gentleman. Her research takes her to a brothel, where she hopes to observe scoundrels in their natural habitat. She breaks in with the help of her cousin, carrying with her protection devices she has invented.

Raven, not being upper class, would not be allowed in the gaming and brothel enterprise except he recruits  wealthy customers for the owner. He is caught up in the break-in, but Jane deploys one of her inventions and helps him escape.

Raven likes her quirky nature, a stark contrast to his heartbreaking past, which causes him not to believe in love. Jane cares for her many young siblings and is generally ignored by her parents. Jane’s generosity with her siblings warms Raven's heart, and he begins to fall in love. But he knows he doesn’t belong in her world, that of the upper class.

There was a good balance between their building relationship, flirting and chemistry, and the mystery of Raven’s mark and his family history. The secondary characters were great.

MY KIND OF EARL is well written and enjoyable with a love story, mystery and intrigue

I was given a copy of this book to review for Romance Junkies Reviews, for my honest opinion .

Weakest Ending EVER.

I was so invested in this book that I read it in one day! But...but...but...the ending!? Weak is an understatement. So abrupt and anticlimactic. I was so let down. It really left
a sour taste in my mouth.

SPOILERS
A reaction from her parents?
What happens to the Uncle?
Raven’s first Christmas with a family?
At least an epilogue. Something!!
