Fun Book That *Teaches* Kids About History...

Mary Pope Osborne's book MAGIC TREE HOUSE #35: NIGHT OF THE NEW MAGICIANS is a great kids' book that entertains and teaches, while getting them interested in reading. The author mixes fantasy with bits and pieces of real history creating memorable stories that also teach a lesson.

Each book in the series takes the young reader along magical adventures with the two leading characters, Jack and Annie, a brother and sister who time travel in a tree house.

In this book, Jack and Annie travel back in time to the 1889 World's Fair in Paris, France where they must learn the secrets from some new magicians, and bring those secrets back to Merlin. The two get to visit the fair and learn who these new magicians are.

The illustrations by Sal Murdocca highlight the story and Osborne writes a note to the reader explaining how she came up with the idea of Paris and the 1889 World's Fair. There's also an additional "Author's Note" section in the back that compares fact and fiction and some activities to do.

The book also includes a preview of the next book #36 of the "Magic Tree House" series--Blizzard Of The Blue Moon.

These books are perfect for those young readers who are beyond picture books but not yet ready to tackle "Harry Potter."

A bit boring

5 stars for delivery and quality. Took away a star because this book is such a drag compared to the others. My kiddos didn’t resonate but your mileage may vary.

Truly Magical

**Spoiler Alert**

My 5 year old son and I love reading the Magic Treehouse Series together. Although all of the books have a great blend of fantacy and fact, the "Night of the New Magicians" has perfected this formula in an even more magical and memorable way. I can't think of a more exciting way of helping my son learn about the early inventors than to liken them to "magicians," nor can I think of a better way of helping him learn about geography and famous landmarks than to create an spectacular mental image of the characters flying over the city of Paris with a breathtaking view of the Eiffel tower. This book has Jack and Annie racing against the clock to save an unlikely bunch of "magicians" from a dark, mysterious figure in a memorable and enchangting adventure.

A Different Kind of Magician

Loved that these magicians were actually inventors. It was fun to read about their inventions with the thought that no one had ever used them before. The life lessons that Annie and Jack gleaned on this trip will be very helpful to them later in life.
