There is hope for humanity. Giggle. Thank you Mr. Moore!

Johnny Heller does a good job of allowing the story to unfold as narrator. This is Christopher Moore so if you are easily offended by bodily functions or flow of consciousness of a less enlightened mind you may want to look somewhere else for entertainment. If, like me you are a fan of the human element and enjoy a tale that goes where you never expected it to go you will enjoy this and become a fan of Mr. Moore who, despite writing about the weaknesses and failability of people leaves me with a view of the world that allows for good to exist. . Sorry, spoiler - no squirrel people or vampires in this one. San Francisco in the 1940s, men in black, a very pretty woman, and a bartender are included.

The funniest book I have ever listened to!

Noir by Christopher Moore is the funniest audio book I have ever listened to. I cracked up laughing all the way through it. The story just keeps getting better and the narrator is the best there is. I loved this so much, I bought a copy for a friend and both of my brothers so we could all enjoy the laughter. I highly recommend this story - it is hilarious!

Funniest Book of the Year!

This story is great. It has the edge of the lingo of the 1940s and Johnny Heller is THE ABSOLUTE BEST NARRATOR out there. With the combination of great writing and terrific story telling this is the best book I have read all year. Bravo! I have bought 3 more copies and gave them away as gifts - it is that good!

My Favorite Moore audio book

I loved the audio. I mostly do audio. GREAT narrator and story. Can't believe there were any bad reviews. I have loved all of his books, except haven't been able to get into The Serpent of Venice and Sacre Bleu, but I'm going to try them again. I like humor, absurdity and unpredictability, and this story was definitely that. Both adventurous and ridiculous, this book is my favorite Moore book so far. ... Well, Lamb was a boat load of fun, and the Melancholy Cove books, and the San Fran Vampires and . . . .

Great read or listen....

Listened on audiobook...
I love Christopher Moore but I was a bit skeptical about this book when I heard the topic/story line but once I started to listen, I knew I was in for a treat. Mr. Moore sets the “stage” well for this 1940’s noir-styled comedy. Since this book is set in a time when stereotypes were common, some people may be offended by terms used but if you understand that it is only used to depict the time, it doesn’t detract from the book, it actually adds flavor. If you like aliens, mobsters, Chinese noodles and women named after stinky cheese, you’ll love this book! I have read 90% of of Mr. Moore’s books and I would rate this one as one of my top 5! Now that I finished the audiobook (from my local library), I’m going to buy the book and read it again.
