Delightful always

This wordless book is a charmer. It portrays ingenuity, hard work, and willingness to push through difficult days. It also promotes dependence on kind community members, and a knowledge of what processes are involved in obtaining foods such as milk, eggs, butter, maple syrup, etc., with no grocery store. Spoiler Alert: As a child, I followed the recipe illustrated in the book, and ate my pancakes without worries, because I had no cat or dog to steal them!

Smaller than I expected, but still a great book!

Great book. My little boy loves it so much I decided to get him his own. This copy is smaller than I expected, maybe because my library has the hardcover version in a much bigger size. I didn't realize there would be different editions in different sizes. Still a great book though.

Yummy!

I took this book out of the library over 20 years ago and convinced mom to make the pancakes. They were really good. The book is good too by the way!

Great book for low readers

Allows ALL readers to successfully complete the story with their imagination, which I believe is crucial to storytelling. This book has zero words, just pictures. It leaves the story line open for each reader.

Delightful experience

Reading this book with each of my toddler grandsons was a delightful experience! They each notice different things and they talk about them! This is a book they ask to read, especially on a rainy morning after we've had pancakes for breakfast.
