Rebel's Honor (Crown of Blood) (Volume 1)

I enjoyed it from the beginning to end of the first book. The changes Lynx, Lucan, and Axel go through was wondrous and pleasant. I can hardly wait for book two.
Gwynn White did an outstanding job on this book.

I didn't know what to expect from this book, a weird mix of fantasy, sci-fi, and steampunk. But once I got started, once I met the characters and became enthralled by their exploits and spying. The world building is really good and though there isn't a ton of action, the intrigue is just as compelling. But what sold me was the characters. Lynx is AWESOME, a warrior princess who could give Xena a run for her money. Axel draws you to him like a magnet, and I'm halfway in love with that guy. And Tao, though a minor character, is so kind and strong and loveable that I just want to bundle him up and protect him from everything evil. That said, there were a couple characters I absolutely loathed. Lukan is a whiny jerk and I rolled my eyes Kestrel every time she opened her mouth, but those were both likely intentional character traits. None of it diminished my enjoyment of the story where everyone is working for and against each other, where everyone has their own agenda, and where the possibilities are endless. This really is a fantastic start to what I expect will be a great series, and I intend to buy the rest of the books to see what happens next.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's jam-packed with every emotion you could possibly think of. It's full of intrigue, betrayal, & scheming. I'm looking forward to seeing where the rest of the story goes.

I rarely give out 5 stars, but I absolutely loved this book and the next 2 in the series. It's so well written, the characters thought out, world building fantastic and the best part...unpredictable! I read a lot of this genre and story lines tend to be very similar. But not here. This author takes you on a journey that is well worth the cliff hangers (it's a 5 book series) and makes you squirm in anticipation for the next installment! The only word of warning is that the blurb says steam punk but it's more post apocalyptic. I would recommend this to any fan of the genre!
