Fascinating story!!

This was an excellent historical novel, based on an actual young woman that was sent as a convict to Australia. The novel includes surviving horrors on several ship voyages, the birth of two children under terrible conditions, loving a man who was above her "class" and marrying for survival, raped and beaten by her husband, starvation, traveled over 3000 miles to escape, terrible diseases, sent to be hung, and more!!!!! This is my first book by Lesley Pearse, but definitely not my last.
