If you like Westerns, read this!

This was the second book I read that was authored by Charles West. In general, I'm a huge fan of westerns, particularly those that try to be historically accurate as possible. To me, a story has the have a good plausibility factor to it.

I loved reading the transformation of young Jim Moran into the person that truly gave his life meaning - Rider Twelve Horses. This is a story about an unlikely friendship that saves a young man's life. It gives insight into the peaceful side of the American Indian that is so often forgotten.

I don't want this to become a spoiler for the book, so get yourself a copy and enjoy a well-written western.

White Indian, White Heart

Very interesting and full of historical facts especially about the Native Americans. Jim Moran (Rider Twelve Horses) starts out as an idealistic young lad keen to sow his oats, but abrupt change of circumstances turn him almost overnight into a man of the wilderness who is regarded as a powerful spirit by the resident Blackfeet and Crows, yet shows that he is a person of principles when he goes out of his way to avenge the injury of mentor and friend Johnny Hawk. One can't help but empathize with his desire to live at peace with nature and his adopted tribe, yet understand that in doing so he has to make a lot of sacrifices.

Good fast read.

I really enjoyed Ride the High Range. This is just the the type of book that I enjoy. I grew up in the south west hearing stories like this so they have maintained my interest. Well written story that drew me into a sympathetic bond with the main character, which is great in a book. It had great adventure, morality, and a good ending. How can you not like the characters in this book/
If you want an enjoyable adventure that stays with some realism, has moral characters, and a good ending--this book is for you. I enjoyed the book.

Always entertaining

I am a Charles West fan, always entertaaining and a good way to relax and be entertained, TV these days is just not really entertaining for the most part but with a good book I can enjoy the times of my youth when wesstern TV shows and movies got you away from reality to that fantasy land of being the hero etc.

Characters, how they are portrayed and their importance to the story.

Naming of Moran to Rider Twelve Horses, thought it good after his stealing the horses from Indians. Great story.
