Tantalizing Trivia and Fun Facts about Stephen King's body of work

Published by Permuted Press, this 421-page book is one-third interviews/articles/profiles/essays and two-thirds fun trivia about King's fiction. As such, the general King reader will find the first third of the book to be of more interest, whereas die-hard King fans will gobble up the little nuggets of information that Spignesi--the author of 6 previously published books on King--serves up: bloody little bon mots that will slake your thirst. Throughout this all, Spignesi's enthusiasm for King's fiction has remained undiminished over the years, since 1991, when his tombstone-sized THE COMPLETE STEPHEN KING ENCYCLOPEDIA spoke volumes about his tenacious talent in researching every nook and cranny of the King multiverse. As with books of this kind, you can dip into it anywhere and find yourself smiling when you come across an entry that sheds light on something about King you never knew about: e.g., There were signed copies of King's CHARLIE THE CHOO CHOO, written under his pen name "Beryl Evans," but not in the matter you would think: actress Allison Davies posed as Beryl Evans and signed copies of the book at the 2016 New York Comic Con. Bottom line: This is a fun, fascinating, fact-filled book that anyone with more than a casual interest about King will find compulsively readable. PS: At $16, it's priced affordably for a 400+ page trade paperback.

Hodge podge of information that does little to enlighten

I'm not sure what does book is trying to do. I suppose it might interest the hardcore fan, but even he would find little of value. There is almost nothing directly from King. His own story of his childhood told in "On
Writing" is far better. Content varies from essays to interviews to movie reviews. Apparently, the collector of this bit of all-over-the-place data couldn't get an interview with King, so gives us interviews with fans of the author. Pass on this one.

Stephen King is loaded! 💵💵💵

This was a gift for my girlfriend who is a huge Stephen King fan. I can't comment about the content of the book because I have not read it, but she likes it and has learned some new tidbits about him. A good gift for a fan.

Very little literary criticism

There is very little critical information in this book. It is mostly a compilation of lists. There is an incomplete list of his poetry m, but no poems are included.

A Masterful Work On Mr. Stephen King.

I choose this book on Mr. Stephen King by Stephen Spignesi for a friend in the fervent hope and desire that he will "enjoy" it. The title of this book intrigued me more over some of the others offered as it not only deals with Mr. King himself but also his literary output which is not always explored from so many different angles. It also has a great deal of who and what Stephen King is and his writings and where the reader is able to glean insights into both. Mr. Spignesi also adds other prominent individuals thoughts to [the] "creepy corpus of facts . . ."

Good gift for fans

My son is a huge fan. Never expected this book as a gift, but started reading it right away. It's a good book to pick up and put down if you don't get long blocks of time to read.
