Description

From the Inside Flap The Storm Chronicles Stormrise Stormrage Stormwind Shadowstorm Raven Storm Aspen Night Raven Stormfront Skye Knizley is the #1 bestselling author of the Storm Chronicles series, an urban fantasy tale that mixes mystery, magic and horror, Midnight Roads, her homage to road movies with a dash of mystery and horror and the Shadowlands series of modern adventure/mysteries. All of her books feature strong female leads who can hold their own with the men and then some, witticisms and of course Skye's trademark snark.

Features & Highlights

  • On a rainy night in 1971 the cruise ship Crescent Star vanished in the North Atlantic without a trace. No crew, no lifeboats and no wreckage was ever found, in spite of a three-week search. Two days ago, she crashed through and sank a pleasure yacht off the coast of New York, leaving five people dead. The ship has answered no hails and no one appears to be aboard. Agent Raven Storm and a forensic team lead by Aspen Kincaid have been tasked to investigate and bring the ship in, if possible. What happened to 720 crew and passengers and where has the ship been for 44 years? Clue by macabre clue, Raven uncovers the truth of the Crescent Star and faces a villain from beyond the grave. But how can she stop something she can’t see, can’t touch, and that won’t hesitate to use the ones she loves against her? STORM Sea No Evil…

Stake mummy & blast another hole in daddy's head.

Disappointed in character de-evolution. Raven went from kick-ass heroine to whimpering basket case. This aspect of the book seemed to negate books 1-5. The only thing I hate worse than a bubble-headed gelatinous girl heroine (girl not woman) is a strong female character who suddenly loses massive IQ points, her entire character, to melt into a hot whiny mess. Raven's reaction in this book is a total non-sequitor with her prior record of kills, her angst about mummy deceptions to date, and even the events leading up to the 'reveal'.

A more realistic reaction to book5's reveal would be Raven spouting out a snarky comment about staying dead the next time he decided to fake his death. I just don't buy the guilt-ridden angst. Very disappointed in this book.

I don't know if I can continue reading the series when Raven's entire character has been totally rewritten in this book.
