Absolutely Incredible

I agree with the person who said Karen Kingsbury out did herself in this one. I was tryng to read this book slowly, because I recently discovered Christian Fiction about 4-5 months ago. I feel like God brought Karen and her "life-changing" books into my life for a definite reason. So, I was trying to read it slow, because waiting for the next book to be published just "kills" me. Since I am a new reader, I got spoiled by being introduced to the Baxters only a few months ago and I constantly read and read to catch up. Once I finished one book, I already had the other waiting on the nightstand. Now that I am caught up, I don't know how you guys do it waiting for months to see what happens next...I am only just learning to deal with it. Anyhow, when I started reading, I could have sworn I knew how it would end...I would have bet money on it if I were a bettin' woman, but to my surprise and regret, I had no idea what a ride I was in for. This has be one of the best books I have read of hers. It truly touched my soul...and my life and thinking did indeed change as a result. As far as reading it slowly, I gave that up by the third night. I stayed up until 3am, crying like I haven't cried in a very long time. Great, great, great!!!! I wish someone like FoxFaith would take on the task of turning the Baxters (from book 1 on) into a series drama for Christian and non-christians alike. These books may say "Fiction", but the situations are REAL.

disappointing

I was so upset by one of the story lines in this book that I read ahead, and the outcome bothered me tremendously. Is it really necessary to put this family through so much? How many people actually have this many tragedies happen to them in such a short timespan? I would've hoped for a happier ending--if I had wanted sadness of this nature, I need only open the newspaper. She could've turned this into a miracle ending, however, she chose once again to fill her readers with sadness.

summer

I was disappointed in this one. I felt like she was preaching at me instead of letting me grow and decide my own christian values - not much story in this book.

Karen does it again!!!!!

I bought it this afternoon and couldn't put it down. I finished it this evening. I feel like I'm a part of the Baxter family...almost like their trials are my trials, and their happy times are my happy times. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!

I love that Karen writes true problems and doesn't always sugar coat it to make everything end perfectly. SHe writes real life, and I love it.

Great reminder

Just finished reading "Summer" by Karen Kingsbury... haven't cried that hard in a long time and did not expect to. I cried over the beauty and the sorrow that Karen so brilliantly intertwines. A great reminder that even if God doesn't give you the earth moving miracle there are still miracles in his "gentle whisper" and in his amazing gift of life that is His to give and His to take.[1 Kings 19]

The only reason I gave this 4 stars and not 5 is the Dayne and Katy are getting a little pathetic to me. They both talk about how God gave them such a wonderful gift in each other but then neither of them is making an effort to fight to hold onto it. They just seem a little childish. I hope they can grow up a little in the coming books.

Awsome Book

The Sunrise series is an awsome collection of books I have read the first two so far and am starting the third now. Te Summer book hit really close to home for me when Ashley lost her daughter it was really hard on me as well. I have lost two hildren so I know firsthand wat she was feeling I lost one at 8 months he was born and lived just 17 short minutes this book helped me cope with that again. Karn Kingsbury is a great Author I love her books.

Kingsbury delivers again

"Summer" continues the story of the Baxter family, of course. It really opened my eyes to the price of fame. A good Hollywood marriage is rare as this story proves. Mrs. Kingsbury doesn't always deliver "happiy ever after" in all aspects of the Baxter's lives. But, she tells a story that teaches that "All things work together for good..." according to Rom 8:28. As we lead lives fit for the Master's service, even difficult things can be endured. I love the fact that when I am reading one of Mrs. Kingsbury's novels, I know there won't be anything that will tempt my thoughts to wander in a worldly way.

For those who have followed the Baxter's w/Karen, you will not be disappointed. All three generations of these characters are fleshed out in a very believable manner.

Great Book

This book was a good continuation of the Baxter family although it had a very surprising ending.
