Sweet Vengeance: The Lord's Trilogy

This book had so many twists and turns that it remained completely engaging and heart stopping to the bitter end!

I was totally anticipating this book because I fell completely head over heels for this leading male when he was a supporting character in the predecessor book "Gypsy Lord." This character is so strong and loved with fierce passion, but when he thought himself betrayed, all hell broke loose!--- what a compelling drama the author weaved. The story's summary is pretty well summarized in the book's back cover without giving anything away, so I won't go into it in this review for fear of giving the suspense away-- this book engages you from beginning to end.

Our leading lady is one to be reckoned with. I will only say that these two meet at gun point one night as Joselyn Asbury confronts Viscount Rayne Garrick but couldn't find herself pulling the trigger. Rayne was completely taken by Jocelyn's courage and what appeared to be a deeply passionate woman underneath all the street garb she was wearing. Jocelyn is refined and educated but her life on the streets after her family losing it all at the hand of the Viscount of Stoneleigh (Rayne’s father) taught her how to survive day by day. This heroine is spunky, sassy, yet completely unselfishly caring for those suffering from injustice and poverty.

The heat index in this story is completely off the charts, and when Rayne was hellhound on his revenge, you can't help but feel sorry for him because of the pain he is suffering from having been allegedly betrayed by Jocelyn; he is ruthless and completely true to his character because after all, he is the 4th Viscount of Stoneleigh—a former war soldier for the crown, a notorious rake with the women, a good gambler and cunning business man.

I loved that the author brought in our lead characters from "Gypsy Lord"-- their supporting roles in this book was strategically placed within the story and it is heartwarming to see such great strength in the bonds of true friendship.

Although the story did tend to slow down a bit here and there, it would greatly pick up to take you on a wild roller-coaster ride because you would never know what our author would weave next (my emotions were all over the place from one minute to the next!).

In my opinion, this book was WAY better than its predecessor, "Gypsy Lord" and that book was also a good one-- this one is just more riveting, suspenseful, and the lead characters completely popped out of the pages!

I've never written a review on anything before.....I went to bed late and woke up at 3:00 am to continue reading before work. Had me hooked from the start. This book had my heart racing, wishing, praying, crying and smiling. A must read!

Kat Martin is a great author writes such a good story you can get lost in her books. I would highly recommend!

Excellent book! The ending was not predictable. It left you hanging until the bitter end. Amazing what strength the main character had. Great read!!!

This is a time piece with 'My Lord, Madame, Count, etc'. I did not care for this story. But I gave it a 3 as it was not a favorite.
