Tangled Autumn (The Best of Betty Neels)

I love this one - it was one of the first ones that I ever read and since reading it, I become a "Betty" fan. I loaned it to a friend of mine and when she was finished reading it, I took it back and had to run through certain parts- great!

On the scale of why I give a book five stars this warrants them because it made me all misty and I don't really know why. It is a fairly typical story with the rich Dutch Doctor Rolf van Duyren who also happens to be a Baron.

He's not a standard hero having a more obvious temper and looking like a Demon King with his slanty eye brows. Sappha is recovering from a cheating fiance so she's probably not in a good headspace to meet the new man in her life.

Rolf certainly puts Andrew in the shade really quickly but with the usual stubborn miscommunication from the heroine and the lordly assumptions from the hero we manage to hold off until the end when his sister throws a spanner in the works just as things looked like sorting out.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it to anyone who likes to read books by Betty Neels. I love her books and wish there were more writers who wrote the kind of romance books that she did

Wanted something to take me away from the stresses of everyday life. This took me to England and Holland with doctors and nurses and a way of life where people worked hard, very hard. But enjoyed helping the ill and enjoyed the after duty hours with pleasant outdoor walks, talks, and eating. Just a great read.

Betty Neels is deceased but has entertained me with her books for many years....Our library carries a very large selection of them and I have read each of them more than once....Even brought them to a friend and neighbor who passed away some years ago, she loved them too....Isn't life strange ???

This is a Betty Neels book. If you read Betty Neels, then you want the plot and everything else to be predictable. That is the point. Satisfying in that Betty Neels way. Only 4 stars because it is not "great literature" after all (and not intended to be).
