Description

Abbie Emmons has been writing stories ever since she could hold a pencil. What started out as an intrinsic love for storytelling has turned into her life-long passion. There's nothing Abbie likes better than writing (and reading) stories that are both heart- rending and humorous, with a touch of cute romance and a poignant streak of truth running through them. Abbie is also a YouTuber, writing coach, filmmaker, big dreamer, and professional waffle-eater. When she's not writing or dreaming up new stories, you can find her with her nose in a book or binge-watching BBC Masterpiece dramas in her cozy Vermont home with a cup of tea. If you want to see Abbie in her element (ranting about stories) just type her name into YouTube and search.

Features & Highlights

  • It's Tessa and Weston's first Christmas together, and Tessa is determined to make it the best holiday ever. But when her estranged mother shows up with a suitcase and plans to stay for two weeks, Tessa's hopes are shattered.
  • Bitter from the past and still holding a grudge, Tessa is in no mood to give her mother a second chance. The holiday season may be a time of reconciliation with family, but Tessa believes her mother will never change. Why get close when she's just going to leave again? Tessa realizes there is only one way to save this Christmas: avoid her mother as much as possible.
  • With the best intentions in mind, Tessa chooses to not tell her mother about Weston's disability. But when they meet face-to-face, Tessa is mortified and ashamed by her mother's insensitive remarks. Weston begins to think he is the real cause of Tessa's shame. His old demons resurrect to haunt him with doubts: What if, one day, Tessa stops loving him because of his disability?
  • Determined to prove his love for her, Weston makes it his mission to be the best boyfriend ever and works to reunite Tessa with her mother. Meanwhile, Tessa plots elaborate ways to avoid "mother-daughter time" at all costs. One scheme leads to another, until Tessa finds herself tangled in a web of deceit - and, worst of all, lying to Weston.
  • When the secrets between them force Tessa and Weston to face their greatest fears, they must confront the inescapable question: Is true love worth the risk of heartbreak? Is it ever too late to forgive and start over?
  • The Best Christmas Ever is a heartwarming holiday follow-up to 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons. You'll love this touching story of forgiveness, family, and first love.

Fun holiday read - couldn't put it down!!

This book was so sweet it gave me a toothache… and I loved every minute of it! 💜

Tessa and Weston: The Best Christmas Ever picks up 3 months after the events of Abbie Emmons’ debut novel, 100 Days of Sunlight. Although our two MCs have been dating for a while now, the reality of what it means to truly love another person has just begun to bubble to the surface in this cozy, hard-to-put-down, holiday sequel.

Weston and Tessa are still very much in the throes of euphoria. Every moment apart they’re anxiously awaiting their next meet-up and every moment together, they’re attached like packing peanuts to your favorite fuzzy holiday sweater. The infatuation is palpable. And who could blame them? Weston, a boy of 17 is every teenage girl’s dream boyfriend. He’s athletic, charismatic, sensitive and witty… plus he apparently smells as delicious as he looks. What girl wouldn’t want to devour this boy? And Tessa, with her striking blue eyes and golden, strawberry scented hair is, by all accounts, equally adorable. It’s a whirlwind, high school romance on steroids.

Steamy (PG-rated) make-out sessions aside, this book packs an emotional punch that hits closer to home than I expected. When Tessa’s “only here for the holidays” mom shows up ahead of schedule, things get complicated. Initially burying her head in the proverbial sand, Tessa attempts to evade spending time with her mom and instead focus on making her first Christmas with Weston as picturesque as possible. However, the blowback from her charade only succeeds in making matters worse for everyone involved. This storyline in particular resonated with me as I know, first-hand what it’s like to want to hide from the unpleasant, complex feelings you have towards an absentee parent. Though Emmons admittedly comes from a nearly prefect upbringing with two, loving parents, she pens this gut-wrenching narrative as though she’s lived it herself. It’s quite impressive.

Abbie’s ability to create tangible, atmospheric scenes using the most abridged descriptions made this a delightfully immersive read. Her writing style is not only smile inducing but it’s the kind that will have you reading well past your bedtime. I found myself doubling back over certain passages solely for the purpose of savoring the particularly well-crafted bits (something I did more than a few times because her writing is just that yummy). Although this book is technically a sequel to 100 Days of Sunlight, you won’t feel lost diving into this one blindly (no pun intended 😉) since Emmons does an excellent job of referencing vital story beats from her previous book where necessary.

If you’re looking for a sweet, heartfelt holiday read, look no further. This one will have you laughing, crying and clamoring for more from the always inspiring and insightful, Abbie Emmons!

* I was given an advanced reader copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. Other compensation came only in the form of pure joy and satisfaction — the unavoidable byproducts of reading this truly enchanting novel.

A delightful and emotional winter love story🤍

I consumed this delight of a story in literally three days. THREE DAYS, you guys. I only do that when a book is TRULY AND ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.

Go read this. I cannot recommend this book enough. It’s the perfect, fluffy, holiday book to cozy up with by the fireplace while drinking a nice cup of hot cocoa.

Abbie totally nailed it with this book—I loved it even more than 100 Days of Sunlight. 🎄❄️❤️

Content warning: kissing, frequent cursing, and estranged family relationships.

Loved it! Boost Your Holiday Mood; Great YA Book Gift! :)

Loved it! Not enough adjectives to describe "Tessa & Weston: The Best Christmas Ever"! Beautifully-sweet holiday sequel to "100 Days of Sunlight". Plenty of internal and external conflict keeps the story moving in a realistic, connecting manner. I am convinced that the endearing main characters, Tessa and Weston, will have more to share with us, at least one more book, maybe two. Thank you for sharing your writing talent with us, Abbie!

Tessa and Weston's Story Continues

I don’t tend to read Christmas romances, but when the author gave me an opportunity to read an advanced copy of Tessa and Weston’s continuing story I had to read it: I mean this is Tessa and Weston!!!

Picking up after 100 Days of Sunlight which I just adored, Tessa and Weston’s first Christmas together is very quickly approaching and then the unexpected arrives in the form of Tessa’s estranged mother. She also wants to heal wounds and Tessa wants nothing of it.

T&W (Tessa and Weston) is a short novella sequel that focuses on everything it needs to while giving you all the Christmas feelings that Christmas stories have. T&W will definitely put you in the Christmas spirit. It deals with family, forgiveness, and the joys and pains of young first love. After this second novel with Tessa and Weston, I want to read even more of their story and to see them mature and grow into adults with each other.

After two years from the publication of 100 Days of Sunlight, T&W comes as an unexpected, but most welcome surprise filled with lots of sweetness. This is a clean first love/romance story, with some minor foul language.

Do yourself a favor and pick this one up on November 1st! I had not even finished my advanced copy and clicked that pre-order button. As with 100 Days, the cover of T&W has small images that reflect the story you are about to read. I cannot wait to have my copy to put next to 100 Days!

Pick both novels up if you have not read either one and get ready to fall into the Christmas spirit! Get some cookies and hot chocolate to snack on as you read! And just maybe I will start reading some Christmas romances one day soon…

Tessa and Weston: The Best Christmas Ever is highly recommended! Many thanks to Abbie Emmons for inviting me to be a part of her ARC Team for this upcoming release

Delightful Holiday Read

This story was incredibly cute, and it was super fun to see Tessa and Weston continue to develop their relationship. Plus, this story takes place around Christmas time, and who doesn't love sledding and snowball fights?

We also got to meet Tessa's mother, and she was quite the character. The tension between her and Tessa led to some interesting developments in the story, and it also made the plot seem more realistic. A lot of modern YA characters come across as being flat, but Tessa changed throughout the course of the novel and proved to be a complex person.

Weston has a really fun personality. I love how he always finds the bright side and remains unflinchingly honest. He's also incredibly funny, and it was hilarious to read the witty banter between him and Tessa.

Whether it involved romantic hikes in the woods, Christmas caroling with the church, or buying books for each other at a cozy bookstore, I was there for every step of Tessa and Weston's relationship. I'm so excited to have been given an ARC of this wonderful book, and I can't encourage people enough to pick up a copy for themselves!
