Good story: provocative elements prefiguring Armageddon

Writing - 3.5 stars
Science - 3.5 stars
Story - 4 stars

The Horns are neither exceptional writers nor revolutionary theologians but tell a very good story combining relatively traditional Christian doctrine regarding YHWH, the elohim, nephillim, the creation and subsequent fall of man, etc. with creative speculation on how emerging technology can generate some of the nightmares from Revelation together with many infamous elements of modern consipiracy lore. They are strong on prayer, the concept of the soul, telepathics, and bio-engineering but essentially clueless on the physics of EM/gravity field engineering. They are appropriately suspicious and relatively sophisticated about "underground" genetic research and projects but, in my opinion, very naive about secret field propulsion technologies. (They imply that the only such craft humans have are those we've retrieved from alien crash sites, that the UFO's seen flying around are all demonic and/or part of the Great Delusion, and that their travel is "interdimensional.") They are also, in my opinion, a bit simplisitc in dividing the panoply of sentient beings within the universe who have actually had contact with earth into humans, angels, and demons, inluding certain "gods" of legend. However, to be fair, those of their views which I consider overly naive or simplistic will probably be more palatable, if not reassuring to most Christian readers. Moreover, one can only put (or "disclose") so much in such a story before it becomes hopelessly complicated and confusing. And the Horns actually throw an amazing amount of stuff into their story. For those who are not already familiar with the various elements, it may be a paradigm shift to encounter this stuff in a novel, especially one in which Jesus is Lord. For everyone else, even those who have been exploring this bizarre stuff for years, it will be quite provocative, stimulating, and entertaining. If you have read this far among the reveiws, I heartily recommend you get it and read it. I would also recommend, by the way, the Ransom or Space Trilogy by C S Lewis, a great writer who, among other things, thought quite deeply about Christ, the meaning of salvation, and "man's place in the universe."

Gripping, Fast-paced and Highly Entertaining

From the opening paragraph to the final page, The Ahriman Gate reads like a literary roller coaster. It builds, builds, builds... and then Woosh! Off you go, turning pages and burning through chapters like nobody's business.

The story follows the adventure of a young marine on a quest to find answers to his father's death. In the process, he is confronted with government conspiracies, transgenic experimentations, and pure evil.

The Ahriman Gate works as a wonderful primer for those unfamiliar with the aforementioned concepts. For them, the reality of these issues may be a lot to absorb. But the Horns do a terrific job of presenting their ideas through a variety of colorful characters. And they do an amazing job of taking so many disparate fringe ideas and tying them together.

There's more here than a gripping story. Once finished with the book, readers can spend months following up the various references found therein to discover what is fact and what is fiction. That process, though, is just icing on the cake.

If you're looking for a thrilling, suspensful story that reads like fiction but is surprisingly based on a number of facts, this is the book you're after. Pick it up immediately.

Unusual story

I really enjoyed this book. the second half was really difficult to put down, and the story is all too plausible, considering current work in transgenics. This book will not be soon forgotten.

Absolutely Shocking!! Couldn't put the Ahriman Gate down!

I've never been more emotionally rattled during a novel! From page one I found myself unable to put this chilling book down! Every chapter's intensity/excitement rolls into the next, constantly rocketing your emotions to a new plateau! For me the Ahriman Gate definitely brought to light many fresh perspectives on a whole world of questions it seems many people today would rather ignore than to face. Spiritual questions regarding today's advancing sciences, government conspiracy, the return of the nephilim, and some other very scary realities that we live amongst every day. You can't read the Ahriman Gate without beginning to question some of life's deeper questions. I've never been more educated whilst being more afraid during any other novel before, bar-none! The Ahriman Gate is a MUST READ for everyone!

The Ahriman Gate

It was a page turner for me. I love the theories and ideas that are mentioned. I enjoyed it and passed the book on to other family members, so we could discuss the theories. It makes life interesting to speculate on aliens, etc. I look forward to the next great read of this nature. Loved the book. Highly recommend it.

Speculation does not mean false

The book was a lot of fun. Much speculation from some very controversial interpretation of Scripture and ancient literature. There are of course many scholarly works dealing with fallen angels, nephilim, and the end times. This is the kind of book that makes you want to see how far we can actually go with the ideas embedded in the story. A little slowed down by the author's constantly wanting to explain the foundational points of his underlying ideas. Otherwise, an enjoyable read for the ancient mysteries and fantasy buffs.
