Description

About the Author An exceptionally talented storyteller, Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in May 1859. Doyle began writing while studying at the University of Edinburgh Medical School, which he joined in 1876. Doyle graduated in 1881 and was employed as a surgeon on the steamer Mayumba on its voyage to the West African coast. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was most noted for creating the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes and writing stories about him which are generally considered milestones in the field of crime fiction. Pointing out the social injustices, Holmes offers a new and just approach in a world which is unfair. Sherlock Holmes, the most well-known fictional detective, has been listed with Guinness World Records as the most portrayed movie character in history. Doyle died of a heart attack in July 1930, aged seventy one.

The pages are stuck together. Be careful, it's just the novels in Sherlock Holmes...

It's still gorgeous, but it's annoying that the pages are stuck together (it's actually quite satisfying to split the pages). I wanted to buy the complete series, not just the novel, but I still like it.

A Great Value!

I believe this is a wonderful book and a good value for the money. I was looking for a book with (only) the Sherlock novels (all of them) and was delighted to find this one, especially for the price. That said, I will be disappointed if the book doesn't hold up over time. For the asking price, it is certainly no bargain, especially given the quality of the paper.

The size is perfect for reading at home or taking out for the day. It uses an easy-to-read font and paper quality (weight and brightness) is on a level with your typical bulk paperback. The book (mine at least) is not leather bound, yet it has a quality appearance and is very attractive. The pages lay open readily and it seems to have a generally solid construction. Mine arrived with a slight bump on the spine at the bottom, but based on other reviews I wasn't expecting perfection. All in all, the book met my needs and will reside on the shelf next to the remainder of my modest Sherlock Holmes collection.
