What if this happened instead of that? Or why a particular person reacted as they did. So often fact is stranger than fiction; these books start with a fact which I develop.” Lisa Stone lives in England, has 3 children, and 27 books published under the pseudonym Cathy Glass, many of which have become best-sellers. OMG!!

Couldn’t put it down for long! Such a page turner! I don’t want to give the story away but if you’re at all into mysteries it’s a must read. As an intuitive I had some idea of what was going on from the get go. Many hints or just read and be surprised so different from her other genre it was a nice switch and enjoyable!

Wow

Super good book - non stop reading about a clinic in a small village - strange noises happening to the college at the end of the woods- wild animals rooming to close looking for food - big eyes looking thru the window every night they come and are getting braver- how does the clinic become part of their a story? Find out. Very interesting

Creepy, atmospheric

Creepy story. Very atmospheric, with a remote location. Twists, turns & secrets. Starts a bit slow but, overall, an enjoyable read.

Exceptional Book! Exceptional Author!

Page turner! Two different scenarios linked to the same main plot that all comes together with ease and perfection! I read this book in three days; that's with work, husband, and children. I highly recommend this! Spooky, thrilling, disturbing, and somehow peaceful all rolled into one!

Creepy and Spooky

Lisa Stone has written an atmospheric, spooky novel that keeps you turning the pages. It involves house sitting in an isolated cottage in the woods, an adorable, if somewhat naughty dog, questionable characters throughout, unethical science, and more. I give it a solid 4 stars.

Too far fetched

I have read all of lisa stones books and liked them all but this one. It was a little bit too far fetched for me. You kind of new what was going on from the beginning and went on too long.

Not so thrilling

The book started out good but lost it’s luster in the second half for me. The ending was predictable and some of the storylines were left unfinished, in my opinion. I didn’t hate it, but I wasn’t thrilled by it either.

Creepy, atmospheric vibe!

I loved how atmospheric this book was!  It starts out so creepy and even throughout the book, I had moments where I was still pretty creeped out.  I loved that as it's not really easy to do for me. I would give the book 5 stars just for the overall creepy but not scary or gross (horror) balance that the author was able to keep me in.  Very suspensful!

The challenges with this story for me were:

I sort of figured out what was going on somewhat early but there were still good twists along the way that I hadn't counted on
The characters themselves were a bit one-dimensional. I could have done with more development
The detective was an idiot.  (insert major eye-rolling)
Can Jan not put that dog on a leash?  For god's sake!!
Some of the 'science' had some MAJOR liberties taken with it.  I can't say anymore without adding spoilers so I'll leave it and you can judge for yourself.  But I'm not even too bothered by this one because suspension of belief is totally doable on my part.  But can we circle back around to Jan knowing how to use a leash and that stupid detective! argh!!

This story probably is a 3.5 for me but because I was so entertained, I'm rounding it up to a 4!
