England is an author and librarian who grew up on the Space Coast of Florida and now calls small-town rural Virginia home. When they're not writing or librarianing, M. K. can be found drowning in fandom, rolling dice at the Dungeons & Dragons table, digging in the garden, or feeding their video game addiction. They love Star Wars with a desperate, heedless passion. It’s best if you never speak of Sherlock Holmes in their presence. You’ll regret it. They are also the author of The Disasters . Visit them at www.mkengland.com.

This book has gays in space, a badass hijabi, a badass trans girl, found family, and fun yet high stakes. What else could I ask for?

Fun book!

So good! Loved all the unforced diversity. I normally read a lot of “hard” sci-fi and this was not that but still a delightful read.

Misfits in Space!

I love this book! Hilarious, diverse, queer AF, full of plucky, misfit heros, and oh yeah, lots of space battles and intergalactic intrigue. The Disasters was a joy to read, and I'm officially a M.K. England fan now!

Fun

I’m not much of a sci-fi girl but this book had me fascinated from the beginning. It reminded me of everything that I loved about Firefly and Guardians of the Galaxy. A fun adventure that had me grinning and laughing from beginning to end.

A group of misfits that get kicked out of the Academy for really the stupidest of reasons but take off across space to stop the group who has framed them for crimes they didn’t commit.

Action

I so badly wanted to give this 5 stars but the last 1/4 of the book felt like it dragged on. It has a great start, throwing you straight into action which got me hooked. Then it's pretty much nonstop action which is paced really well and is fun. I really liked the main character as well, really, all the characters were great. This is definitely a book I recommend to read! Despite the last 1/4 of the book it is a fun action packed read.
