Finished it in a day - sick sick sick book!

This is a sick, sick, sick book and I loved it! It's gory and bloody and not for the faint of heart! I was sorry to see it end. I finished it in a day and I don't recall finishing any book that fast! The word fast-paced almost seems trite these days due to overuse, but it's honestly the only way I can describe this book. It builds momentum until the last page and leaves you ridden with anxiety.

I'm so glad I took a chance on a new author, since this book exceeded my expectations. The author's writing style is unpretentious. For y'all still famished for a book similar to The Hunger Games, then snatch up The Housemates. It'll keep you sitting on the edge of your chair. It reminds me a lot of the House of 9 flick starring Kelly Brook and Dennis Hopper. However, The Housemates is original in its own right. If you like this book, then check out House of 9.

Without giving away any spoilers, the book is about eleven strangers signing up for a reality show. The setting is in England. The winner of the show gets a bundle of cash. Two million pounds. Everyone is excited, so what could go wrong, right? The "Housemates" were handpicked by their victims. Each member has done someone wrong and now they must pay for their crimes. The Housemates are pitted against each other and must survive the macabre tasks. The tasks are chillingly disgusting and horrifying. As a reader, it'll leave you holding your breath. It certainly left me holding my breath! Who will survive? Will they be robbed of their humanity? How far will they go until they break? The Landlord (the person who controls "the show") says that the survivor will still get the cash - is the Landlord sincere or is it all a ruse? Find out in The Housemates!

There isn't much character development for the host of characters except for Damien who is the protagonist. That said, I very much enjoyed this book and look forward to Ian Rob Wright's other books.

The Housemates disturbed me on so many levels - long after I've finished it. It makes me wonder whether such a thing exists in the underbelly of our society - I hope not! I shudder at the thought! I also wonder how Ian Rob Wright sleeps at night after formulating the torture scenes.

The epilogue indicates that there'll be a sequel and I, for one, cannot wait!

Excellent and suspensful!

I absolutely could not put this book down. I loved every page from the start until the excellent ending. A couple very clever twist and turns! I highly, highly, highly recommend this. This is the first title of Wright's that I read and I am an instant fan!

Meh, at least it was expanding one of the main characters

I've seen all of the SAW series and I'm aware of all different reality competitions. It was ok. I did like the expansion of the character of Damien. Found out I'm reading the books in the wrong order. I've corrected this and started again.

I wouldn't call this extreme horror.

An entertaining read to say the least!

Fast-paced gruesome terror

The Housemates agree to be on a reality show in the hopes that they'd win money and achieve fame. Little did they know they'd be starring in a "Big Brother" meets "Saw" competition for their lives! This novel is not for the squeamish, for sure.

Damn good fun

This was my test book for this Author. His titles all sound so good but I wanted to see if I would enjoy his writing style as well as content. I enjoyed this book. I like the way this Author writes. Not a whole bunch of fluff and a novel that is 450 pages. Good characters, strong interaction and most of all, lots of action and fun. This title will not give you nightmares but it will definitely have you looking differently at the people you meet in everyday life. Good read!
