Another great book by Mimi!

Just finished The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant and absolutely love it! It was fun, unexpected and riveting. Loved the dynamic between Micheal, Miriam and Lula. Can’t wait to see what the future brings for Michael and Miriam. Love, love, love Lula, she makes you Laugh out loud one minute and have tears in your eyes the next. I am so with Mr. Nice... we need to capture that Mimi person and command her to get the next installment out ASAP!

Such a fun mystery with lots of Easter eggs!

Michael Vanderhorst is a very old vampire who has traveled to the detestably hot and sunshine filled city of Phoenix, Arizona in search of answers. His maker was murdered under mysterious circumstances and the local vampire "society" is not being forthcoming with details on the investigation into his death and the punishment of the vampire or vampires responsible. During his wait to finally meet with the leader of the Phoenix vampire society (ridiculously named the Arizona Society of Sunshine Love according to Michael after all even though they CAN go into the sun, no vampire LOVES it) he fatefully passes his time waiting til his appointment by going to the local library. In the library he meets the very human and incredibly CLUMSY librarian Miriam Murphy who mistakenly interviewed him for an assistant position in the library. Michael is fascinated by her, finding himself coming to her aid when she is attacked in broad daylight and left struggling to survive. Michael must struggle to keep his strange new human friend safe from unknown assailants while investigating the death of his maker which he discovers are linked.

Prepare yourself for the new rollercoaster mystery series from the DEVIOUS Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. We can only hope when Mr. Nice catches up to her, he lets her tell the stories to the rest of us... not just to him!

I need to know more about that library

Being a librarian’s assistant is like a secret dream job of mine. Mr. Vanderhorst however did not have that on top of his “next profession” list but when Miriam enters his life like one of Fate’s giant invisible speed bumps with spikes, he has no choice but to play the part of devoted assistant while he tries to solve the mystery that sent him to Arizona in the first place.

I read this book not knowing what to expect, this author is notorious for cliff hangers, so I expected that. This time the cliffy wasn’t too bad. She also is known for having quirky and eccentric characters and twisty turny plot lines, again she totally delivered. The wild cards here were Vampire and Mystery, sooooo I dove in and was delightfully surprised. Thank you Mimi for another fun read, I look forward to the next one. I need to know more about that library…

Another Great Book

“The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant” is engaging to the point I read it in one sitting. It kept me on my toes until the very end. All I can say is ‘Damn you Mimi, I must find you and turn you into a vampire so you’ll write faster!’

Could not get invested

I had trouble getting into this book. I couldn’t connect with the characters and did not feel they had any depth or reasons for me to like/dislike them.

The mystery part of the story did contain a twist that I did not see coming so that was fun to read. However, because I could not connect with the characters, I did not feel the emotions that the characters were feeling. I really wanted to like this and hope the rest of the series brings more depths to the characters to really get the reader invested in the story and their emotions.

Loved the humor and "Mr. NIce".

Too funny! Likable characters, decent mystery with a rather dry, offbeat humor - it's fabulous! Oh, and "Mr. NIce" - that character alone makes the book worth reading. Fingers crossed there are more and they're just as humorous.

Another hit!

I love the accidental self exploration and continual sarcasm followed by self-regulation. As often is, Mimi's books are a great combination of funny and didactic! Can't wait for the next one!
